For one single reason, no. Airmatic is an expensive fix.

If he has the resources to immediately convert the Airmatic to a traditional strut/spring setup, then yes! The M273 is a beast of an engine. This car is basically a W211, so it shouldn't be hard to maintain.

It's not a 4matic, just checked the pictures. Even if he buys brand new parts, he'll have some change. Going with Aunty Radu's estimate. If he has ears he will listen to your advice and avoid that money pit. The engine and interior are just about the only reliable components in that Merc. Body kits and just about any other thing are very expensive.

And nobody will buy his airmatic suspension (balloon/bags) for 50k, dem no dey fear you.

I will personally say No. Even if you convert, you wont have a very smooth and perfect ride, your ride will still somewhat be bumpy because the car came originally with baloon, if you change to spring, the baloon sensors will not be able to understand the springs and therefore, vehicle computer will not be able to interprete accurate road topography and indentations on the wheels/tyres.
I will advise, if you are really a benz enthusiast, you save more and go for a C300 Nigerian use (or E350) with all suspensions intact rather than this money pit as someone called it.

OP, I know it's your money, but i they beg you don't let attractive looks of the car to you woo you. It's completely a bad idea to swap out the air suspension. It gives serious and acute migraine later on.
