Is Benz E350 Wise For A First Time Driver? by SenseiVoyles: 12:49pm On Jun 22, 2020 |
Been planning to get the 2012/2013 Benz E350 next month. This will be my first car. I have a budget of 6-7m. Not for heavy use, just commuting from home to work which is around the same VI axis. I want it but I’m scared about potential maintenance costs and then periodic flooding since I live and work in VI. Don’t want to get something I’ll be scared to drive when it rains heavily. Would appreciate insight about the vehicle. Thanks |

If you're apprehensive about maintenance costs then avoid German cars, especially if they're modern. Look towards either Korean or Japanese. Also, since your area is prone to flooding then consider an SUV. |

SenseiVoyles: Terrible idea. Save some money and buy something like a 2013 Accord V6 instead. Edit: Since flooding is an issue, you want want to look at an SUV. Can't go wrong with an RX350. 4 Likes |

It's a great car, the position of the air intake is not in a low position, it's in a high position, so the engine is not prone to absorbing water. If you keep a very good maintenance habit, you won't have anything to worry about. Just go along with a good auto tech for inspection. If you don't have one, I'm very much available. I really dont understand our obsession with Japanese vehicles 4 Likes |

If you can afford to follow the maintenance schedule (it's in the manual, change items when they reach stipulated mileage don't wait for them to spoil), use the recommended fluids and don't abuse the car, you should be fine. Anything can be your first car as long as you can afford to get (and keep) it. For the flood issue though, modern cars aren't good with that. 2 Likes |

You cant go wrong with E350, i’ve had it for 3 years and the only major work i’ve done was to replace engine mounts. No suspension work has been done to date. Best car i’ve owned. But again, i dont live in a flooded area 1 Like |

Your explanation shows that your are not financially and mentally fit to drive Benz ! .. real Benz owners don’t Compromise on issues like maintenance and the rest ... don’t force yourself to do what you aren’t capable of doing at the moment ... go for what you can afford without much hassle.... if you ask me I would say ... buy your Benz and grow mentally .. you don’t plan to drive one car for 4 years ... lol .. you buy higher standards with more Gods blessing ... all the best. ML350 2013 won’t be bad |

Conductor261: Check cost of maintaining private jets. People still own them and thrive. Let's stop being small minded. There's more to life than "fuel economy" and "maintenance cost" 4 Likes 1 Share |

bigx:dont mind those people. They want to continue living in the past while the future is looking at them. Anyone that has money to buy Benz should have sense as well. I own E350 2015. I can never use Toyota and the likes again. If everywhere gets too flooded, I open my Uber app and leave my baby resting at home, parked on a very high ground 7 Likes |

Carchoice: Sad to see that a lot of you so called Benz owners are very shallow in thinking. So you'd advice a first time car owner to acquire such despite the conditions he gave? Don't be stupiid! 4 Likes |

A contemporary Benz is NOT a good choice for a first-time buyer, especially since they also have flood to contend with. Don't play yourselves. For this same forum nai person buy 2013 E350, start to sell am two days later. E get why. Buy a Japanese car, keep the Benz for your next car if you must. 4 Likes |

There’s a learning curve associated with car ownership as a first time owner; It’s either u have a lot of technical knowledge on preventive maintenance/repairs or you have plenty of cash to throw at it. I won’t advice a first time car owner in this part of the world to buy a 7yr old german car as a first ride - you will learn to appreciate the term ‘premium tears’. Go Japanese at first then u can go german after about 2yrs. I know someone who got a used German car as a first car and eventually had to abandon it in a repair garage later on after spending a small fortune on repairs. 4 Likes |

Billiebaba: Hello, how are you doing today? Please I just bought my first car, a Honda Civic 2008. Is there anything particular about it and what should I do more to enjoy the car for a while. |
Re: Is Benz E350 Wise For A First Time Driver? by Billiebaba(m): 10:55am On Jun 23, 2020 |
Sunshyne200:First congratulations, really happy for you, just have a good maintenance habit, always be attentive to it, always listen or check out for any irregularities or abnormalities, as early detection can save you and your car alot of money and stress, and use a good tech, don't let anyone do any direct connection or remove or add anything for you so that your car can work better, and stick to specifications. And you are good to go. Honda civic is a very good car. 1 Like |

SenseiVoyles: Well I suggest that you go for ML 350 or GLk.. The car is with higher clearance and that is why I recommend it E350 and ML 350 Most time use the same engine the only difference is one is. Sedan and the other am SUV Benz is a great brand and I have been driving that brand for over 7yrd now ! You took a great decision .. Benz maintanance isn't the issue because you have to avoid a lot of wahala japanese guys face Benz engine is built to last... If you take care of it well Welcome to the club and try and come to Benz thread and ask questions about the brand 2 Likes |
