So I am a Nigerian born who moved to the U.S when I was very young. I am currently exploring the worst case, but very possible scenario that the U.S sees a huge economic downturn that will render the degree I am supposed to be getting this summer useless/outdated. I also really don't want to pay the $50,000-$60,000 back, and while I have "friends" here, and am not deeply connected to Nigerian culture, I still don't feel like I have real family here or people I can count on. I'm aware Nigeria is a pain to live in and there's a reason my parents brought us here, but I would rather suffer in Nigeria than suffer here paying tens of thousands in debt back and not having a real computer science job.

Start a job in USA. Get work experience before coming. Don't also come until a job is waiting for you here.

That's exactly my concern. That there won't be jobs in the USA for me to start.
