That's commendable. Other Governors should take a cue and flood the market with adequate face masks in order to force down the price. I don't see why we should be importing cheap face masks from China.

Why should Nigeria import the face/nose mask? Why?

All states should be able to mass produce these things with standard regulations.

The face mask that people are putting on (from China) also does not really prevent virus from getting through. But it can block droplets from cough or sneeze. Same with the mask being made in Calabar. So it's not a waste of time as you think.
It's only the N95 mask that can prevent airborne viruses from getting through.

That is actually not true. Facts are beginning to come out that it spreads through breathing and talking too. All along, we thought it was only through coughing and sneezing....

But asymptomatic folks who aren't coughing or sneezing could be spreading it inadvertently. that's the only way to account for how virulently this thing is spreading(pun intended).

The only way to create a barrier is when they wear a mask. So I think it's a good thing if everyone wears a mask.

That's a good place to start. We will manufacture phones someday if we begin with the mind set of being self sufficient. This is only a low hanging fruit. Let's start from here.

This goes beyond just making masks, there are standards that ensures that these masks will actually prevent pathogens. If the standards are not met then it’s all in futility.

I hope they know that a typical surgical mask contains 3 layers that has the ability to absorb fluid and moisture. The materials that should be used here should be standardized to serve this purpose.
