The issue is that most PORT HARCOURT people tend to hype the town for nothing. PORT HARCOURT from all standards is a very large village settlement.

This view of PORT HARCOURT constitute at least 60-70% of PORT HARCOURT city area. It is very shameful

If I ever decide to contest and I become a governor, Heaven knows one of my policies will be to send a bill to the state legislature banning the use of rusty iron roofing sheets in the capital city and other towns in the state, with enforcement team set up in the state's ministry of work and housing. I hate the sight of rusty roofing sheets. Govt has to provide a standard for people to follow, else no development.

Added: I will give 3 months' grace period for houses currently donning those rusty sheets to replace them, with monthly fines for those who fail to meet up until they do so.
Thank God you're not a Governor. I wonder how you expect the poor living in shanties to afford elaborate roofs when they barely could afford cheap ones. No rich person(a sensible one atleast) would want to use zinc sheets when there are better options. Improve their living conditions first, and you wouldn't need to use force. A government which always has to use force to achieve its aims is a failed one. That, if anything, shows the massive divide between a government and it's people.

you have not travelled out of ph, not to talk of going to abj, abj is better planned than ph.

only planned places in ph are old gra, gra phase 2, transamadi , d line, other surbubs just have good roads passing thru them like woji, mgbouba, peter odili.

the roads are higher than the settlements, hence flooding as we shall see this April.

Port Harcourt TOWNSHIP is planned but it is a shithole

Trek from harbour road to creek road. That's extensive enough.

Port Harcourt township was planned by the British. It is still the best planned area in Nigeria, even better planned than Abuja

How could you say such a thing?
Can't be compared to Abuja, even Uyo, in terms of planning.
Re: Port Harcourt Lockdown: What I Saw Around The City Yesterday- PICTURES by Harbeeorlar(m): 10:20pm On Apr 06, 2020
River State as a whole is just big for nothing. Aside Port Harcourt and Bonny Island, the rest of the state is shitty. Infact the government largely focus on Port Harcourt living the rest of the state with little or no attention.

Many of the concerns indigents of those areas/LG (Andoni, Kalabari, Etche, Okirika, Ogoni, etc) do call on radio programmes to air their frustrations. Many of those towns /villages are living in outright sufferness. Some don't have electricity, some water, some don't have roads, some have being turned homeless by soldiers.

Reason why as big as Rivers State is, its only Port Harcourt many people are familiar with. And that same Port Harcourt is losing its glory.
Dantedasz:

While I agree the OP might have his own agenda, my point is that most threads about Port Harcourt and governor Wike tend to only show pictures of GRA,Aba road and Trans Amadi layout area conveniently failing to mention the water front slums.
This is just Port Harcourt there are a lot of bad under developed local governments in Rivers state. I know this because I have been around the state.
