Could it be that Nigeria has become so lawless that lawlessness has become the order of our daily lives? I just read how a government that ordered a state-wide sit at home and a CJN's directive that all Court activities should be suspended was still able to constitute a Court session to try a case of floating. ... I therefore humbly submit that the Magistrate Court sitting on the said day is therefore illegal and any such ruling is therefore null and void. Modified For those of you quoting the exact words of the CJN in suspending the activities of the Court, https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/383446-just-in-coronavirus-nigeria-shuts-all-courts.html I leave you with the following: 1. The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Tanko Mohammed has ordered the suspension of all court sittings except in matters that are urgent, essential or time-bound according to our extant laws., for 14 days because of COVID-19. According to our extant laws in Nigeria, what cases falls within the 'matters of urgency, essential or time-bound' in law? Does this case fall within that purview? What are the Legal definitions of Matters of Urgency? For instance in Canada COVID-19 Pandemic – Definitions of Urgent Matters The Ontario Court of Justice has introduced special measures and scheduling directives in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which include special procedures for urgent matters. To find out if a matter would be considered urgent, please refer to the definitions below. https://www.ontariocourts.ca/ocj/covid-19/definitions-urgent-matters/ |

Don't know someone was also thinking along this line too. I was amazed when I heard she was been taken to court despite the directives that all courts session are been put on hold by the CJN. This is Nigeria anyway. Only if Funke can get a good lawyer to defend the ruling but all in all, she mess up though. |

youngest85:You're partially correct although your still wrong in some aspects. OP is ignorant. Court was closed but emergency cases and time bound cases were exempted. I don't know why most Nigerians don't listen to news at home |

TheTrueSeeker2:The court did the right thing. According to CJN directive on suspension of all court activities as reported by Premiums Times, it stated clearly on the exception of URGENCY of the matter. Funke and her husband violation of sit-at-home is a matter of urgency and needed accelerated hearing so as to serve as a deterrent to other owambe-loving folks... https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/383446-just-in-coronavirus-nigeria-shuts-all-courts.html |

mbaise1000:If those ''more people'' have to be killed so that more Nigerians would be saved from corona virus, so be it. Or don't you know that those people killed by Nigerian agencies actually acted in manner that put the Nigerian over 200m population in danger? Were they killed for no reason? Why didn't Nigerian government and it's agencies killed you. It is easy to blame. |
