The Finance Minister who did not save a cent from the Oil windfall from 2010 to 2014 when a barrel of oil was over $100/barrel.

Rather, the Excess Crudeoil Account was ran down from $20b to $2b, and foreign reserve ran down from $47b to $29b. Also ensuring to borrow more money at a time we should have been saving more than what OBJ and Yar'Adua were able to save during less buoyant economic period.

And just 9months after the Crude Oil price began dipping from $100/barrel towards $50/barrel, she shamelessly admitted that the Jonathan led Federal Government had already borrowed N470b ($2.5b as at that time) to pay salaries of federal civil servants for February, March, and April 2015.

All she had to her credit was warning that a recession was coming, forgetting she was in the driving seat to make a change as the Finance Minister and coordinating Minister of the economic team that failed the nation.

What a shame!

It will be good if you make your research about this issue. Did you know that the present people in government prevented her from saving, are you aware that rotimi Amaechi being the chairman of Nigeria governor forum took the federal government under Jonathan to court and you have to know that ministers are not as powerful as governor.

You are right except that she was a coordinating minister, a super minister. The fact that the inauguration of ministers was delayed then because Pres. Jonathan waited patiently for her resignation at World Bank and arrival to Nigeria, said a lot about the influence she wielded.

And still she didn't have the final say as regards implementation..can you please just quit tactically trying to paint this illustrious woman in bad colours and pictures??!!

Yerobbers are inherently stupid and senseless particularly towards Igbos who barely care about their worthless existence, you can see how pained they are about this piece of news.

Imagine the fool comparing an appointment based on ethnicity, bigotry (mohammed) to that of NOI whish is based on meritocracy and competency

Thank God for her acceptance and promotions. They are results of quality education, efforts and hardwork.

Your English is so badly written, showing how poorly educated you are. How can one like you get a good job? Or how much more the chance to mingle with eminent people like Mrs. Okonjo Iweala?

Her father was a professor and he died as the king of his town. Her mother too is a professor and she's still alive, by the grace of God. What about your own parents? What are their qualifications? Without doubt your English tells us their levels.

My advice to you is this:
For your reckless comment borne out of wickedness and jealousy, quickly locate a transformer around you and hold onto it in loving embrace.

You should have taken out time to dig up facts than epistle your recentment for a woman that has shown dedication every where she goes.

This was her on Aljazeera explaining why subsidy needed to go and what govt was putting in place to cushion the effect on the poor masses who don't benefit from the subsidy anyway.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52Wurs15q7k

Listen to her talk about no political will at levels of govt to save. The frustration she faced against elements of corruption. Where you expecting her to perform magic? She is just a MOF.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPmWzKTfke8

Why did she not resign if she knew the government she worked for was not inclined to save and was very passive towards fighting against corruption?

They took the lying and thieving government to court because the same Federal Government of Jonathan was illegally making withdrawals from the said account without the approval of the FAAC that had the state Finance Commissoners as members and joint approvers.

Okonjo-Iweala denied numerously that the FG was making such withdrawals, but the persistence and tenacity of Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state was rewarded when the same Okonjo-Iweala finally admitted to the fraud she perpetrated by making such withdrawals without the requisite approvals.

Beside, that is just the Excess Crudeoil Account ECA.

What about the failure to save an extra cent on what the previous regime of OBJ and Yar'Adua handed over to Jonathan, despite that Jonathan presided over a period of increased oil revenue?

Were OBJ and Yar'Adua stupid to have built on what they inherited?

Was it the State Governors that presided over the drawing of the federal budget that did not plan any savings from all the oil revenue?

Let's call a spade a spade.

She was there to preside over the pillaging of our commonwealth, rather than resign, she sat comfortably wailing about an upcoming recession while occupying the very seat that was to prevent such.

They would never say it aloud but the fact remains that those who tried to 'sacrifice your legacies' under the alter of tribalism, religion and nepotism are currently gnashing their teeth under the sorry situation they have put the Nigerian economy.

Thank God they won the election in 2015.

If not, they would have been telling Nigerians by now that the country would have been better than New York City.

The country has gone irredeemably low and it takes the likes of you, Adesina, etc to build a country.

For now, there is no functional Nigeria, no active president, no hope.

Congratulations ma, but I would have been happier if in your times as Finance minister, you initiated diversification of Nigerian economy.

Having studied the terrain in your first stint under Pres. Obasanjo, one had expected concrete action on diversification in your second stint as coordinating minister of cabinet/Finance Minister of Finance under Pres. Jonathan. Things could have been a lot better if you did that but all is now history. You are certainly world famous but you have few legacies at home.

Wishing you all the best, still.

You got it all wrong. A prophet is hardly recognized in his own home or by his own people. During her stint as the minister of finance, the economy witnessed unprecedented growth but because of lay people like you, you all forget that economic growth comes before development. Under her watch, Nigeria had a road map for development but tribalism and ethnicity beclouded the reasoning faculty of so many Nigerians that they resorted to throwing away both the Bathing Water and the BABY. I'm not surprised cos the Gospel reminds us about how Jesus was rejected by the people of his own town but like the resurrection story, Indeed Great and Good Deeds can never be hidden! It’s another positive achievement to Okonjo Iweala as she bags another international achievement.
