Please do avoid them. Recently, I noticed how they are trying to paint the situation of the virus in Africa as doom especially Nigeria.

I wonder where they get their own situation report about Africa from.
They are very mad people.
Imagine CNN saying there are many cases of people taking hydroxychloroquine in Nigeria and dying from an overdose of it. Was it not just one case like that? Of which we dont even know if it was true

Does anyone know if they have started testing people with symptoms who have no travel history and no direct connection to a confirmed case?
Yes,and some tested positive. Heard it from minister of health on TVC news

Well, what I mean by the 'vulnerable' are those with a slim chance of surviving it if they caught it, eg those with underlying health issues. Maybe you have a different explanation for this cheesy
In that case, the problem is underlying health issues and not Coronavirus.

President Buhari himself, who may likely have underlying health issues, got exposed to Abba Kyari and escaped unscathed... smiley

Those underlying health issues are deadly killers on their own - with or without Coronavirus... embarassed

This would suggest that the situation isn’t so bad, but not testing people with symptoms who have no travel history and no connection to confirmed cases can achieve the same effect. Contacts of confirmed cases are way less likely to test positive than people with symptoms. I am cautiously optimistic that true situation is not disastrous, but just very bad.

Yesterday morning there were 288 cases . 7 discharged later in the day. This morning 17 new cases. The total number of present cases should be 288-7=281+17=298
They are obviously miscalculated the cases ,kinda confused.
They are not subtracting the dead and discharged patients from the total number. No confusion

Joke aside, sometimes seeing such mindset especially forming the majority who in turn decide for the country due to their number gives me concern for the future & hope of Nigeria.

They have those information. If released to the public, it will cause panic and lead to people moving internally, increasing the threat of further infection.

I'm cautiously optimistic because:
a) We are "blessed" with a climate that is always hot except for a few cloudy days. Not warm, but hot. This slows but doesn't stop the virus.
b) Stories of people who died from the disease; gasping for breath, etc, are still relatively scarce, unlike countries like Italy and Spain.

I'm generally optimistic because I think Coronavirus is a solved problem. South Korea solved it. You test everyone who shows symptoms. Separate the ones who test positive and start testing their contacts too. Rinse and repeat. Also, put a high quality mask on every face and enforce hand hygiene and social distancing everywhere. Also, test or quarantine anyone who comes into the country. It's not rocket science. It's been done. They did it in a cold country without shutting down their economy. They're even making money from Coronavirus by selling test kits.

South Korea is the most technologically advanced nation on earth. Half the country's total population live in one city.

They have these "things" in place before the first index case. The country even provided trackers (like wrist band), for those that tested positive and told to self isolate in their homes. With the tracker, the government monitors activities (including temperature) of those that tested positive and if found to move out of isolation, an individual gets fined immediately.

This is not the kind of technology you put in place in one or two weeks. It's always been there.

Who you wan give tracker for Naija? The typical bus conductor that doesn't believe Covid-19 is real or the educated illiterate that believes in the 5G conspiracy?? cheesy

Boss, abeg leave South Korea matter. That country is too coordinated to fail. We are still searching for the Anambra case

Even if there are no more cases, do not imagine that the scare will vanish like Ebola. Or that they wouldn't push to vaccinate everyone even though no one's affected. Especially with the type of dependent government we have. This is a time for leaders with courage and vision because the powers that be would not back down.

They have but one goal...global SHUTDOWN/ RESET.

Of course we can choose to live in denial, deceiving ourselves as usual, until it's too late.

People with Covid-type symptoms are supposed to be tested regardless of travel history or contact with positive cases. The issue that I suspect many are having is that they don't understand what the symptoms are, and thus are disappointed when after listening to their symptoms the NCDC staff do not rush down to take their samples, but rather counsel them to wait for other symptoms. Otherwise, every cold or sneeze would require testing.

Then the symptoms are of malaria, just thank God, see if it were corona virus and you just self isolate at home without appropriate treatment.
Then I wonder what would have happened to you.
It would still probably no different (eg, that's what CNN's Chris Cuomo is doing)...
You have to remember that over 80% of positive cases will show only mild symptoms or NONE at all.
