A Taiwan senior minister lamented that the information they gave to WHO, they didn't announce it to the world. WHO has lost its function since, it's now a political tool

Faux news?
A major part of the problem, hurting Trump and the US while they think they're helping him.

See your teeth like step down. It's not as easy as you think. The virus was unpredictable and it was probably still in its mutation process. Do you know how much help this present WHO administration has offered to Africa?! If you do not, go and do some research.

Modified:
So you say because they couldn't detect human-human transmission as a result of the virus' mutation, they should step down. In plain decision, yes. But the UN knows that problem could have been averted but for the virus' mutation hence, no news of any sacks or layoffs. Although, on my part, they should have spent more time studying the virus without coming to a conclusion. That one was their fault.
But really, sacking them because of an error out of the much good they did for our people?! Come on. These people have families to feed too.
what about families that have died as a result of thier incompetence,. It's People with this kind of ur fish brain that still support Buhari even after knowing that the man is useless

The die is cast already, China have been the puppet master in WHO for years now, even from the past director general.

justwise:
Trump will not fool anyone with this one, from blaming the Democrats, to China and now WHO. As the US recorded 2000 deaths on a single day he knew that the blame lands on his feet because he never took this seriously from the beginning and was listening to Fox News opinion hosts.

He refused to help some states governors because they are not appreciative, lied about the availability of test kits etc.

If he decided to defund WHO he opens door for China or Russian to fund that organisation and take influential position.

Everything happening now would have happened. It just so happens that the crisis is a pandemic

For trumps entire term, he has been stripping budgets, sacking technocrats, destroying agencies and making his toadies bosses

As a Nigerian, it is a story that plays out when a multinational is sold to Nigerian owners. Sackings, engagement of paddys, disregard for processes, elimination of entire departments

So when the crisis comes no one is ready.

This is the inevitable trump legacy. Gutting the fire department and then blaming the dispatcher when the building is on fire

Less than 4,000 reported deaths, even a lay man knows that China is holding out on information.

$500 million, can't china give it to themhuh
Trump is a child, he acted too late because of his lack of knowledge of the capacity and resilience of the virus.

It is a Chinese Virus!!! Both China and WHO are both culpable for it's spread and they seemed to work together in cahoots to achieve this and we now need to know why .
Just like the Spanish flu that killed over 50 million people was American virus. Trump played his cards wrong this time around and got his fingers burnt. He should be man enough to accept responsibility for the deaths of America citizens. The only person who deserved to be a scapegoat here is him

Re: US To Review Funding To WHO Next Week by yeyeosoronga: 12:31pm On Apr 11, 2020
Anyway, with regards to the funding, perhaps they should review it and even withdraw their funding.
They can invest that money within their system making healthcare available to the poor people and to the homeless on their streets.
Even middle class Americans are affected by this virus and can be ruined financially. Socialist healthcare systems can only benefit everybody. Unnecessary healthcare needs like cosmetic plastic surgery shouldn't be covered but they need to review their access to healthcare in the US.
While withdrawing their funding of the WHO, they should also consider not putting their noses in other peoples affairs , and the.money used in sponsoring military bases in other nations can also be poured into their healthcare system.
Win win for America.
The nations who need WHO the most are African nations, so if other wealthy nations don't fund the WHO, our leaders will have to step in and perhaps start spending money appropriately. No more free vaccines for our childhood immunizations etc. Maybe this will give us all a brain too.

I will patiently wait for next week.

Trump will soft pedal.

If USA backs down, it means selling 3rd world countries to China.

But there will be serious repercussions for WHO officials after this saga ends.

If only China knows what harm it has caused himself because they were not transparent in handling this covid 19.

It will not be spontaneous but most countries would start developing capacities in production so as not to rely on China massively.

Some other Asian countries might likely be the new brides like who would known Vietnam can chun out 55,000 ventilators monthly inside this crisis.

Imagine what they can do it its over.

No matter the stock China buys now, in the end, they will lose.

Its China VS the world.

Even USA won't win such a war.
Unfortunately, Economy is not build on Emotions.

I don't even watch CNN.
Let's hear what Cuoma, NY mayor has to say about Trump my dear. He is the one in charge of the crises in the state most hit with the highest recorded deaths of over 7000 people in the US.
He has also been very proactive and active in trying to contain the disease.
It's just like comparing Buhari to Sanwo Olu in the management of the crises in Nigeria. Our lapses aren't showing yet because it's not widespread yet. We hope it doesn't get to that level, because it will become all man for himself.
If Trump doesn't sit tight now and face governance in managing this crises, the WHO DG's prediction of more body bags will come to pass.
It's not about hating Trump. I normally try to avoid putting mouth in US policies, but this time around it's worldwide. If the US sneezes, almost the whole world will catch a pneumonia. Trump mentioned chloroquine, and immediately almost all countries in the world jumped on it. They also knew about chloroquine as it is documented in the medical books of old, as a possible treatment for the corona virus family but no proper studies were done. Till date, America and several other countries are still doing their studies on the chloroquine angle, yet we're all jumping on chloroquine. Some countries have stopped using it now sha, as it was causing more side effects in their Corona patients and they felt worse with the chloroquine .
Anyway, my point is Trump should face the covid crises squarely. He should stop pointing accusations around. After the whole crises, he can then start facing perceived enemies, things, politics. He seems to be only thinking about reelection for now, forgetting that corona wouldn't just go away, and he's the man at the helm of affairs.
In America the states are independent, The FG is just there to support the state. So, there are big difference when comparing Nigeria to America in terms of government practices.

The United States is really trying for our world by constantly funding these organizations

If you see the charts of how much China contributes to these organizations, you will shake your head. What's China doing with all the money it makes?

In 2016, the UN's total expenditures were nearly $50 billion, with the US financing about $10 billion.

Even US' Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gives more funds to these organizations than 10 countries put together
Brother the U.S made things that way so that they can have direct and indirect control of things that matter when it comes to global politics. Donald Trump is first a business man then second a politician, that's why he see things differently and doing all he can to change things
Re: US To Review Funding To WHO Next Week by wman(m): 6:31pm On Apr 11, 2020
Trump, China and the WHO all have their faults. But I'll blame China the most. The WHO first acted on information given by China.

Re: US To Review Funding To WHO Next Week by uunwanaobong3: 7:50pm On Apr 11, 2020
yeyeosoronga:
1. China has a lot of blame no doubt, but WHO only takes action on information given to them by a country.
2.Covid was also not a democratic hoax.
3.Trump also should be blamed for shutting down the pandemic response team as this was an invaluable resource in the US, that would have kept a close eye on this covid with information available to them.
The responsibility to take action wouldn't have just been on Trump but on them. They would have offices in NYC and all states collating information and working together. That was the whole purpose of that agency. Eyes would have been on the covid long before it became widespread in the US. They would have started preparing for eventualities and would have long ordered PPEs, masks, ventilators before there was a scarcity. A better plan would have been in place to curtail the spread.
When a leader does something right, I am all for applauding them. When they make mistakes, they need to be scolded and also accept responsibility.
I really hope this pandemic stop, and there is a solution in sight. But hoping won't do the job of stopping it though, so we continue to do our best.
Bros, let Americans blame Trump...he is the president of America................................ But the whole world should blame WHO for their failure, they actually sided with China at the detriment of whole world..... Putting China first before the world.......... Trump has every right to remove America tax payer money from WHO since it does not serve the purpose it was meant for.

Despite opposition from some quarters, Dr Tedros was elected as the first non-physician and the first African DG of the WHO following endorsement by the AU. There are also speculations that China played a key role in Dr. Tedros defeat of his main challenger for the post, the UK Medic (Dr. Nabarro).

However, prior to the ongoing COVID-19 fiasco, some of the actions by Dr Tedro have been quite unsettling.

First, is the appointment of little-know Russian, Dr. Tereza Kaseava as the WHO Director of Global Tuberculosis Programme. The aforementioned fast-track appointment was made barely a few weeks after the WHO DG's attendance at a medical gathering in Russia shocked

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(18)30005-9/fulltext?elsca1=etoc

Shall we talk about his laughable plan to appoint Robert Mugabe as WHO Goodwill Ambassador? Thank God the offer was eventually withdrawn after a public backlash.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/democracy-post/wp/2017/10/25/another-week-another-scandal-at-the-united-nations/

Shall we talk about the recent endorsement of the Traditional Chinese Medicine by WHO?

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-06782-7

https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevensalzberg/2018/10/01/who-endorses-tcm-expect-deaths-to-rise/#6d7e864c6418

Folks, it seems that we have a politically compromised or incompetent WHO leadership at the moment.
