US To Review Funding To WHO Next Week by Earlystar698(m): 9:47pm On Apr 10, 2020

President Donald Trump on Friday said he will make an announcement next week on US funding to the World Health Organization, which he has recently threatened to cut.

“As you know, we have given them approximately $500 million a year, and we are going to be talking about that subject next week. We’ll have a lot to say about it,” Trump told a news conference at the White House.

He said he would make the announcement “sometime next week.”

Trump has gone on an offensive against the WHO, where Washington is the principal funder, accusing it of pro-China bias during the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, which began in Wuhan, China, last year.

The US State Department has homed in on what it says was the world health body’s failure to pursue an early lead on coronavirus out of Taiwan.

Taiwan, which has succeeded in limiting the virus to just five deaths despite the island’s proximity and ties with China, warned the WHO on December 31 of human-to-human transmission, Vice President Chen Chien-Jen has said.

China claims sovereignty over Taiwan, which rules itself, and has pressured international organizations like WHO around the world not to allow the island membership.

On Friday, China’s foreign ministry said the US comments were “fact-distorting” and politically motivated to shift blame for the pandemic, according to state-run news agency Xinhua.

WHO denies that it ever got an early warning from Taiwan about human-to-human transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

I will patiently wait for next week.

Trump will soft pedal.

If USA backs down, it means selling 3rd world countries to China.

But there will be serious repercussions for WHO officials after this saga ends.

If only China knows what harm it has caused himself because they were not transparent in handling this covid 19.

It will not be spontaneous but most countries would start developing capacities in production so as not to rely on China massively.

Some other Asian countries might likely be the new brides like who would known Vietnam can chun out 55,000 ventilators monthly inside this crisis.

Imagine what they can do it its over.

No matter the stock China buys now, in the end, they will lose.

Its China VS the world.

Even USA won't win such a war.

See your teeth like step down. It's not as easy as you think. The virus was unpredictable and it was probably still in its mutation process. Do you know how much help this present WHO administration has offered to Africa?! If you do not, go and do some research.

Modified:
So you say because they couldn't detect human-human transmission as a result of the virus' mutation, they should step down. In plain decision, yes. But the UN knows that problem could have been averted but for the virus' mutation hence, no news of any sacks or layoffs. Although, on my part, they should have spent more time studying the virus without coming to a conclusion. That one was their fault.
But really, sacking them because of an error out of the much good they did for our people?! Come on. These people have families to feed too.

Modified:
A lot of people discussed with me over this statement. I agree now. Their error put too much lives at risk. They are free to be relieved of their job, although I doubt that will happen.

Gather here if you think WHO and China wasn't transparent with the world in the way this pandemic was handled, from all indications, they trivialized the corona virus that's why the whole world is suffering.

Trump want to punish the Chinese and their close sympathizers like the world health organization.

What about Buhari who went and took Chinese loans against the various regional interest in Nigeria?

Buhari engaged the Chinese to fix our railways and get us trains continuing from the little Jonathan did on the Kaduna-Abuja rail.

Today, crude oil which is our monoproduct economy from which Nigeria generate its main revenue is $30.

Nigeria is now cut in the deep blue sea.

As our financial lifeline is now under seriously under threat.

Trust the Chinese they are coming to get back the money they loaned to Nigeria.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) might end up becoming nonexistent if USA withdraws funding and support from the organisation.
I think the leadership of the WHO should step down right now to avoid losing the relevance of the organisation in the world.

Trump will not fool anyone with this one, from blaming the Democrats, to China and now WHO. As the US recorded 2000 deaths on a single day he knew that the blame lands on his feet because he never took this seriously from the beginning and was listening to Fox News opinion hosts.

He refused to help some states governors because they are not appreciative, lied about the availability of test kits etc.

If he decided to defund WHO he opens door for China or Russian to fund that organisation and take influential position.

Trump failed in his Coronavirus response/non-response.

But he is acting dumb and unstable as usual because he needs someone to blame.
WHO isn't being funded for selfless reasons, neither was the pandemic team
he disbanded.
The US does not give freebies, it is either to further its security or economic advantage
but Trump is too dense to understand such complex ideas.

Unless Trump wants to totally ban any incoming travel to the US, he should brace
up for more communicable diseases.

Trump worshippers will hail this move but if the tin god were to change his mind
tomorrow, they will also hail the change. Typical behavior of zombies.

I see some zombies praising him up there without realizing that it will affect them too.
I bet they didn't realize the amount of subsidies countries get from WHO every year.

It's not only the USA that is disappointed with the way WHO handled this crisis, I strongly believe every other human on Earth does. Information coming from them has been misleading before they declared it pandemic.
