I was surprised to receive a message requesting me to register my number again in the whatapp messenger app to chat.

I tried registering and I got a message saying I have been banned from using what's app. I tried RE registering all to no avail. Does anyone have similar experience?

I hope you aren't a scam or false news purveyor. In any case just contact whatsapp support. You will most likely be asked to provide identification

WhatsApp banned you because you violated their terms and condition. Read their terms and conditions, then pick out the one you violated and you shouldn't repeat same thing to your other WhatsApp number to avoid this.

Ever since Zukky Fresh took over Whatsapp he has strongly discouraged the use of other Whatsapp Mods like GB Whatsapp and FM Whatsapp
He also discouraged the use of third-party apps like the one marketers use to send messages to thousands of people in a short time.
So it's either you violated one of these or YOUR VILLAGE PEOPLE ARE VERY HARDWORKING
