But we need to throw away the crabs from among us. The crabs are today the real enemies of the Black Race. Through the crabs, foreigners can enslave us. Because of the crabs our leaders can oppress us and keep our countries backwards.

THE CRAB

The crab: A Black person who shows negative traits that hinder the progress of the community. A crab wants to act "dumb", and be uneducated. He/she wants the world to think Black people live in the ghetto and that Black life is about drugs and violence and sex. The crab is anti-intellectual and prefers a debased existence for self and for other Black people. He/she tries to hide their inadequacies by accusing progressive and enlightened Black people of "acting White". The crab tends to be a non-achiever and prefers that all Black people are that too. He/she exhibits the "crab in a barrel" mentality as a lifestyle choice.

Examples:
1) Dewayne, nobody in the neighbourhood can study so please turn down the volume of your stereo, you noisy crab!

2) There goes Dewayne, he's such a crab and wants to play the "gangsta".

A friend has just said that crabs = the niggaz

That crabs is a more acceptable word for niggaz.

We have them plenty in Nigeria, those who don't like "big grammar" when they see an intelligent Nigerian who speaks well, but they will worship any Oyeebo who is intelligent and speaks well.

It is that Nigerian who boasts of the rough uneducated lifestyle.
