I'm no expert on medicine but I know it's almost a month since the co-vid 19 virus got to Africa and the entire continent is yet to reach a 1000 confirm deaths Compare that to the figures you got after one month in Italy, Spain, even the almighty USA...i don't know why but I think it wouldn't be as many of you 'Western Philanthropist' hope.

There is no doubt that staying away from each other , observing appropriate distancing, protective gear, and in cases, staying home has helped countries already hard hit start recovering. We do not have the healthcare infrastructure to support large numbers of sick people all at once and I believe this disease is not even close to reaching its peak in Nigeria. Melinda Gates is correct. I too see dead bodies on the streets of Africa.
When the world was not in turmoil, the elites and politicians went abroad for medical services. Think about that. They couldn't even trust their country's medical system.

And now those people they went to are overwhelmed and don't even know what to do about the situation of their own citizens.

If USA, a developed country, with all the years of research and inventions, could loose over 100 people in a day due to the virus. Then what about Africa?. Africa is the continent with the highest number of developing countries. A country like Nigeria can't build a big hospital in days. Its simply impossible. We do not have accessories and finance. We are debtors. We owe.

If the virus hit us badly as it hit others. It would have been a really really bad situation.

And to see some Africans yabbing Melinda is disappointing. Let us think logically for once. How many inventions that shook the world were built by Africans. Why isn't Ghana as developed as South Korea since they gained independence the same year. Its because Africans have never believed in solving their problems themselves. They keep hoping that somehow it's going to be alright. Which surprisingly works for them in some situations such as this one.

But... Africans should learn to weigh things logically, predict outcomes if no help comes, and learn to solve their problems. Solving problems bring inventions which in turn being development which brings. wealth.

What the person you quoted was trying to relate is that whether a person is tested or not, if the virus overtakes the immune system of the person, the person dies.

In essence, we should have being seeing many dead bodies in the morgues across the country than usual, even if we don't know the cause of the deaths. You can hide disease, true, but not death.
