The least poverty stricken region in Nigeria is the SW.

I fault Mr Sobowale and Mr Maiwada for not understanding that it is the leadership that has failed Nigeria and not SW,SS,SE,NW,NE or the NC.

We have seen the social register compiled by the state govt. I will rather go with it.

Ritchiee =88358372:

As to who contributes more to the development of Nigeria or the GDP...the SW contributes more than the North.
Oil drives 80% of Nigerian GDP and contributes 90% of our FX

Ritchiee =88358372:

One does not have to look far because during Regional System of Government, the SW became the most developed and the richest region in Nigeria....I think they are still the richest now....

What they had and used excellently well were Education,Intelligence and Human Development. Without oil and with their cocoa,they had a fast growth and were even able to lend financial assistance to Nigeria when it was going down.
Lol

Ritchiee =88358372:

Nigeria's GDP in the latest computation had 21% of Agric ..the whole North even with NC that is not basically North,can be given 16% of this.

Industries took about 23% and Services took 52%.The North will take a little percentage of these.One can imagine where we have the most of Services and Industries..... SW of course.
Oil exploration, services falls under the service sector and we know who leads. In Lagos and Ogun, we have Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and foreign industries. Be guided

Ritchiee =88358372:

What SW gives the nation or produces include the port in the SW.
70% of Lagos bound cargoes terminate at Onitsha - NIWA

Some unintelligent people will tell you that Yoruba's do not work as hard as they want...No sir,the world had gone beyond that and so also are the Yorubas who were some of the most physically hardworking people before now as attested to their wealth before the advent of Nigeria.

White people who control the economy of the world do not work hard anymore but work smart..

Yorubas work smart.Working smart requires great intelligence, less hardwork and very great reward.
Unemployment rate in the North is 10%

Olodo! is that how statistics is analysized in your village

60% means 6 out every 10 Northerners are poor

Even if it's broken to the three region, it cannot be interpreted the way you did.

Or are you saying the total will reduce for every region as well.
Prof, 66% of poor people in Nigeria are in the North. This is because of the Northern huge population.

Unemployment rate in the north is 10%. That means only 10 out of every 100 northern is unemployed.

6 out of 10 people in the north are not poor rather about 6 out 10 poor people in the country are in the north.

Why?

Huge population.

It is easier for hunger to kill a Yoruba than a northern.

A Yoruba spends so much money annually on food but an average northerner spends virtually nothing on food expect on ingredients

Most of my friends in the north only spend money on Yam, oil, Spaghetti and other ingredients a Yoruba man will spend money on

Between these two who is more likely to be poorer.

when Nigeria was created , there just 3 regions , so today the discussion was raised based on the 3 regions

Yet your one region in the North keeps receiving multiples of your two regions in the South and you still find a reasoning to argue?

That is not how statistic works. Percentages are not accumulated or divided like the way you hard and divide the money or numbers.

You foolish sha.

Percentage is used to measure spread and when you want to attribute those spread to components, you use average.

66% of poor people in Nigeria are in the North. In the absence of figures on regional basis, you can use average to approximate

I guess the thread compares Yoruba with Hausa so I'm surprised seeing some Yorubas mentioning Igbo.

some said Yoruba's dominate among artisans, Taylors etc.

For the records Igbo's have taken over almost all the sectors. Yoruba's only dominate sectors of the economy where Igbo's have no interest or where there is questionable govt backing against Igbo interest. That is why you hardly see a viable sector open to competition that is dominated by Yoruba's. If they have richer and more professional artisans why don't they have their own indigenous industrial and technological Hubs like Aba and Nnewi?

Even the banking sector has been taken over. They're crying of Igbo dominance while also claiming dominance.

There is a difference between, the northwest has 23% of poor Nigerians than to say poverty rate is 23% in the northwest.
