There is nothing. The region between the inner disc and the outer boundary is called the sun CORONA, while the coloured outer circular lining around it is due to the diffraction of light.

Yes, Corona is just a Latin word which means crown, so that flash of light around the sun is called its Corona as it could be likened to a crown around the sun.
