A Twitter user has cried out on the platform as her 13-year-old brother and his classmates who were arrested nearly two months ago have still not regained their freedom.

Latifah said her brother, a student of Government Technical College, Ewet, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was arrested alongside other classmates on February 19.

She said there was a fight at their school and police were called. When they arrived, they "raided" students and took them into custody.

She wrote: "Hello twitter I need you all help.. My 13 year old brother has been in custody with some of his school mate since 19feb. Because there was a fight in their school and students we're raided. Please help me RT this THREAD to authorities."

Photos shared by Latifah shows the young boys being ushered into a bus by police.

On February 20, 2020, it was announced that the Akwa Ibom Government has shut down Ewet Government Technical College in Uyo metropolis indefinitely over students unrest and suspected cases of cultism.

The unrest on Feb 19 reportedly led to wanton destruction of school property and severe degrees of injuries inflicted on staff members of the school

In a release signed on Feb 20 by the state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Nse Essien, it was revealed that the government announced that the closure takes an immediate effect.

Essien expressed the displeasure of government on the attitude of students of Ewet Technical College, who he said have for a long while been noted for unruly behaviours.

He said the students of the college on Wednesday afternoon Feb.19 engaged in unruly behaviours, destroying school property and causing injuries to police officers and staff of the college.

One month and three weeks after the arrest, Latifah tweeted to inform the public that students of the school who were arrested after the unrest have still not regained their freedom.

For your brother at 13 to have been kept that long translates that he was deeply involved. At 13, schl property was destroyed and law enforcement agent were attacked, he can be detained and tried as an adult. He at that age to still be in their custody goes to show his involvement. If you think your brother is innocent, what has stopped you from sueing the police. Something that made the government to close the schl is a felony.

I guess you are still young and don't understand some certain rules of life you don't attack violence with violence it leads to destruction. When you were age 13 how smart were you was it not easy for an 18 years old or above to deceive you, was it not easy for you to be manipulated the only difference between you guys is that during your teenage years u had no internet but now we do. Spare the rod and spoil the child, this is a good move by the police. I support the police in this singular act, if not nib in the bod this is how armed robbery, gangsterism and cultism start. a simple talk with the teachers involved would confirm what really transpired... who is who in this nonsense, thus the reason why some ended up in detention.

I had the opportunity to go to a public school for 2 terms bro fight Happened and innocent people got arrested me wey I dey do fine boy if not that some of the police knew grandpa and they know say fight aint my thing was what saved me that's all am saying and I get your point also
