Episode one of season one was confusing AF, so many characters, so many names, everything was somehow.

Twas just the hype from the book readers that kept people watching it.

Even HBO wanted to pull the plug on it after the first episode or so.

I think were the shit really hit the fan was when they sliced off Sean Bean's head.

That peaked everyone's curiosity.

The first 5 episodes were remade.

Prison Break should have ended in season 3.

Season 4 and 5 were mistakes that should never have happened.

How? They both have great stories, characters and awesome world building but GRRM admitted that crafting languages wasn't his thing and that was one of the areas where Tolkien had him beat.

Tokien was from a different generation. In his generation, fantasy writers pay more attention to wordplay and poetry. It made him a superior writer.

But it terms of gritty, and complex storytelling, GRRM had Tolkein beat.

It's the only chink in GRRM's armor. The guy's a lazy writer. In a period it will take him to complete a single book, Stephen King would complete 2.

People here don't like slow paced series... They like fast paced ones like money heist... Where bullets are flying and no one gets hits

Thorin's a dwarf. That's like saying Tyrion is a mythical creature.
Fiction is fiction. Doesn't matter what inspires it. Intact I'll have more respect for the author that makes me relate to a non-human character.
I think you rate GRRM higher because the world of Ice and Fire is grounded more in realism with just a touch of the mythical, as opposed to the world of Middle-Earth that is chest deep in fantasy.
