A carpenter went to inspect my 1 unit 3 bedroom flat and 2 units room and parlour self contained so as to gv his bill for the lintel work. So he eventually charged 100k(will bring planks himself)... That a 3 bedroom flat is been charged 50k...please house is ds nt on d high side?

Length - 120ft = 36.576m
Width - 30ft = 9.144m
Height - 1ft = 0.3048m

VOLUME = 36.576m × 9.144m × 0.3048m = 101.94m³

Now we know the volume of void we need to fill, we know to the mass(weight) that can fill that void.

Density of Laterite is 1 019 kg/m³

Mass = volume × density
= 101.94 × 1019
= 103876.86kg
= 103.876 tonnes

The tonnes is dependent on the density of the material you are using for filling

If they put 5 trip of sand they will tell you it is 9 trips
Filling sand is about 8k to 10k
If you are there stand and count your sand
Tell your bricklayer that you only have 3k
Service 2K

If you are sure he knows what he is doing then the quotation he gave you is very ok. You can still negotiate though, but he gave u a fair bill.

Depending on location, but what they normally charge is 500 per opening.
So count how many openings you have and multiply by 500.
By opening I mean doors and windows.
Then they charge 1k for varendah and dining lintels.
Let this be ur guide.
