Your submission about CR7 in the EPL is not completely true. If he had stayed longer in the EPL say up till 2011/2012, he would definitely be the EPL's greatest player. But as it is, he cannot lay claim to that crown.

I agree with you that Lampard should probably be rated higher than Giggs overall. However, I think the pundits just wanted to honour Giggs for his longevity and trophy collection. I don't think he ever had any personal outstanding season (think of Henry 2004, CR7 2008, Suarez 2014, Bale 2012, Salah 2018, Hazard 2015, Bergkamp 1998) and to me he was not at operating at the level of these players. Even Beckham had a better impactful season in 1999 and 2001 than Giggs.

Both CR7 and Henry won the EPL, so there is no issue of Maradona winning WC and Messi not winning here. On an overall career level, CR7 is greater than Henry, despite that Henry has won the WC, Confed's cup and reached the final of another WC while playing a key role in all tournaments (scored 10 goals across the three tournaments) while CR7 did not even smell any global national tournament success. So the argument you want to use, I could even use it to push Henry's superior overall trophy success over CR7's individual awards to say Henry is greater than CR7. A World Cup win has a much greater significance than an Euro win. A Confed cup win is significantly greater than an official Friendlies tournament in the guise of the UNL. An Euro win does not make up for a lack of World Cup.

Bros, this poll is not based on the overall career of the players, but the excellence they exhibited in English epl.

CR7 is a legendary player, one of the best footballers ever, but Henry excelled more than in in the epl. If CR7 waited for more years in the epl, he might have a claim for the honour. But he left early and excelled elsewhere.
