Thierry Henry is the greatest player in Premier League history.

That’s according to football fans who have been voting for the best player the league has ever seen in the Mirror’s Football's World Cup of Premier League greats.

The Mirror pitted the Premier League’s 32 best players together. In a knockout style tournament, fans voted for who they thought was best in each round until we had an ultimate winner.

And that winner was Arsenal legend Henry, who beat Ryan Giggs in the final with a massive 81% of the vote.

Henry graced us with his brilliance from 1999 to 2007 during his time in north London - before returning for a brief loan spell during the 2011/12 campaign.

During that time he scored 226 goals, becoming the club’s record goalscorer. He also helped the Gunners win two Premier League titles and two FA Cups under Arsene Wenger.g

He played a big part in the club’s ‘Invincible’ season in 2003/04, scoring 30 goals in 37 league matches as he picked up the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.

Despite winning 13 Premier League titles, Giggs had to settle for second place.

The Welshman became Manchester United's all-time record appearance holder and played 672 times in the Premier League alone, scoring 114 goals.

He played in the Premier League for 22 seasons but clearly didn’t do enough in that time for some supporters.

Incidentally, former United duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes share the last spot on the podium having lost their semi-final clashes to Henry and Giggs respectively.

Thierry Henry has produced the greatest and most consistent scintillating world class performances ever seen in the premier league and as such deserves to be the greatest EPL player. At his prime 2003 - 2004 & 2006, he was rated higher than Ronaldo De Lima at the same time.

He was the first world class EPL player to combine both insane scoring prowess with playmaking ability similar to Messi. Imagine, Henry, a striker, still holds the EPL record of assists (20) in a single season, in the same season where he scored 24 goals which was only bettered by Ruud VN with a lone goal.

Thierry could dribble, was extremely skillful, was elegant in movement, had incredible technique, could score any kind of goal, solo goals, thunderous shots, curlers, overhead kicks, flicks, backheels, volleys name it. He was a magician, who did not rely on supplies from midfield before he could score. If it wasn't happening from midfield, he could make it happen all by himself e.g vs Real madrid, & Liverpool.

He still holds the record for being the fastest recorded player on field of play (38.9km/hr vs Paraguay at France 98). He could sprint on the field all day long and particularly enjoyed humiliating tough defenders with his bust of pace and acceleration ( ask Maldini, Nesta, Carragher, Zanetti).

Thierry was the perfect embodiment of Va Va Voom. He is without a doubt one of the top 25 greatest players of all time.

Very soon when Liverpool win the league you'll find a way to claim Salah is a greater EPL legend than Gerrard. Ronaldo is definitely Top 5 though, maybe 3.
