ABUJA — PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved immediate payments of the two months withheld salaries of University lecturers that refused to enroll in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS.

The President’s approval came after he had a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige yesterday in Abuja.

The Federal Government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have been on loggerheads over the refusal of the university teachers to join in the IPPIS payment platform.

Even the other three university-based unions, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, and the Non-Academic Union of Universities, NASU that had enrolled in the IPPIS have threatened to pull out over the alleged irregularities in its implementation.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige told Vanguard that President Buhari has directed the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed and the Accountant General of the Federation to immediately effect the payment of February and March salaries to university lecturers.
Senator Ngige said, “Mr President Muhammadu Buhari has today approved the immediate payment of the withheld salaries of February and March 2020 of the University Lecturers who had not registered on the IPPIS platform.

” He has also directed that the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning and the Accountant General of the Federation to effect the payments urgently by all means to cushion the deleterious effects of the Corvid-19 pandemic on the Lecturers and members of their family.

“All Vice Chancellors are to revalidate affected Lecturers BVN and foward to Accountant General of the Federation for the payments.”

Post Covid-19, they will still be back to this issue.

It isn't yet Uhuru for ASUU, FG is just being compassionate.

Wrong move. They didn't work, and there's money shortage. It would be better to be realistic. This is just a precursor to paying all the unnecessary politicians and aides. They will all get full salaries for doing nothing in a time when revenue is closing in on zero. Meanwhile, people that really need intervention are already feeling the heat.

It is shocking to know that Lecturers have not received their salaries for February until now. That is two months of salaries held. This evil man sits in Aso rock only hiring northerners and his relatives and friends. He has turned the country into a family affair. This man called Buhari is evil. Even after all the appointments, they could not do a single thing. They thought it would be party as usual until coronavirus stopped the show.
Buhari's daughter was using the presidential airplane like a personal travel jet.
Old man Abba kyari whose contagious body should have been burnt was transported on a national military airplane.
All these things were happening while lecturers were home waiting for their salaries.

I have come to see that the agenda of this current dispensation is to suffocate the survival of the easterners. This comes at a very high price for others. From their slurs and twitter posts, I have seen how they refer to non-northerners are "southerners".

Let it be known that since independence Nigeria will be 60 years this year and the North has been in power for 37 years. In these years, they have embezzled the Nigerian coffer like never before. Abacha was in power for only 4 years but imagine the billions of dollars this man embezzled yet Buhari proclaimed him righteous. Buhari affirmed that Abacha did not loot but he is receiving Abacha's loots from other countries.
Forbes reports that Abacha stole at least $5B as of 1996. And Bill gates was only worth $18B at the time. Michael Bloomberg's net worth in 1996 was $1 billion but now $60.1 billion. All the money is the north has no direction. No brain as to what to do with it. Buhari's daughter said that she is an artist. ASStist my left BUTT-cheek.
