My brother, they worked in February, that's the beauty of federal government job.
No problem if they worked, a worker is worthy of his salary. I thought they were on strike or so. But the government should be telling them already that there would be pay cut at this lockdown period. But they won't, because they too want to collect full salaries despite not working.

This is not good news, if you know what the FG was fighting for
Those lecturers are teaching in two federal Universities or institution and receiving double salaries, why some people are unemployed, that is wickedness, some still teach in two federal institutions plus private University, reason am guys
Please someone should bless me with five hundred naria (500) that's the little I need ,3068190115 first bank
That is not true don't let the media twist fact to deceive you. Few lecturers lecture in two or more universities because of their skills, knowledge and speciality. A university who offers marine engineering at postgraduate level might need a professor of law to lecture marine law. This might arise if there is no lecturer having that speciality at the faculty of law. Some other lecturers go on sabbatical leave (this leave is enjoyed once in 7 years). Lecturers on sabbatical enjoys double salary from their place of primary assignment and the university in which they do sabbatical leave. Some lecturers lecture in private universities. Aside these, no lecturer enjoys double salary in fact many of them aren't involved in aforementioned examples.

The last paragraph is the catch.
The monies won't be released to the university heads to effect payment, rather the VCs are to send the lectures' account details with BVN to Abuja for payment.
This is still IPPIS in a non-conventional way. I wait to see the ASUU's response.

Academic is different ball game entirely. Even in their strikes, many lecturers are carrying out researches, marking scripts and studying. The only thing put on hold is teaching and supervision of students. If not for the pandemic, many would be in their offices carrying out these task highlighted

You're funny. The salaries have been prepared already even before this announcement. The BVN is to avoid paying lecturers two times because few lecturers joined IPPIS.

This shouldn't be a news. Federal government should refrain from interfering in University autonomy. Pay lecturers their money.

While I understand the sentiment in this Covid period...
Unfortunately, it reaffirms the lack of moral hazard in Nigeria.

The only reason that anyone would oppose a system that captures the biometric data of staff is corruption. SMH

Research wey no get koko, lol. I thought money for R& D is a different thing from salary. All their marking script and studying. Results will still not come out on time. Study that cannot produce pencil or cure corona, is that one study. At the end, na still regurgitated textbooks, past questions since 1990 we go still see. That's the state of the major part of this lecturers.

Actually some of the researches are implemented unknown to you. A good example is the introduction of entrepreneurship course.
.
All their marking script and studying. Results will still not come out on time.
Once booklets are marked, scores are entered into result sheets or its equivalent. Results are reviewed by the marker before sending them to the course or level adviser. Head of department reviews the results before taking them to the faculty or college board and it gets to the university senate before final approval. These steps takes time that is why your results are delayed most times.
Study that cannot produce pencil or cure corona, is that one study.
There have been researches that are government or privately sponsored. There is less sponsorship from the government hence the difficulty in converting these studies towards solving a problem. The government should be blamed for this.
At the end, na still regurgitated textbooks, past questions since 1990 we go still see. That's the state of the major part of this lecturers
How many Nigerian student can afford a text book worth N5,000 per course? Same student will complain of exploitation should the lecturers ask them to buy their text book. The government is not helping matters because they invest less in education. The major challenge we face as a country lies in faulty education. Once our educational system improves, many things will began to change shape.
.
Once the government does the right thing, things will change for better

Re: IPPIS: Buhari Approves Payment Of February, March Salaries Of Varsity Lecturers by chiefkex(m): 12:52am On Apr 22, 2020
Compassionate you say, FG through IPPIS has deducted a chunk of the salaries of the staff that initially enroll without explanation, no pay slip to even know what's going on...

ASSU will not enroll, they have seen the fraud.
LibertyRep:
Post Covid-19, they will still be back to this issue.

It isn't yet Uhuru for ASUU, FG is just being compassionate.
