The north needs to really abolish the almajiri system. These almajiri are vulnerable. They could be induced to join criminal gangs or terrorist.
that's the idea in the first place.
They are used for electioneering, busy and gainfully employed people can't be used for electioneering the way almajiris in the north are used.
A politician in the southwest will need to share at least 10kg rice.
A politician in the east will need to share at least rice, bikes,Keke etc.
A politician in the north will only share tuwo masala and tuwo shinkafa and he is elected.
The north loves themselves is a myth

Is buhari not a product of almajir system? Gerrarahia!
Just because you hate Buhari does not mean you lie to yourself or continue to talk ignorantly. Northerner of elite background, which includes Buhari, don't put their children through the Almajiri system.

They, Northern elite, deliberately do that to keep their children above the kids of others born and perhaps condemned into poverty, illiteracy and deprivation. This is why most Northern children will never grow up to be Abba Kyari, IBB, Buhari, El Rufai, Lamido Sanusi, Danjuma et AL. Many brilliant and useful minds would have been lost to the Almajiri system as convened today.

Northerners have not had an Awolowo, in the post-colonial Era, for many reason. Perhaps paramount above all else is the socio-religious culture all Northerners, to include the elites and downtrodden, commit to. Dare rise against it, as Sanusi did, and be dealt with instantly.

Saving face is more important to many Northerners, whether those who lead or are led, than saving lives and futures.

Like Abba Kyari and Buhari, the kids of Northern elites go to Cambridge, Sandhurst and other finest academic institutions outside Nigeria. Just chill on the hate because I have noticed it prevents many of you seeing what is obvious so you can then be useful contributors to your immediate household and society.

This is happening already. Where do you think Boko Haram or militant Fulani Herdsmen get their unending production line of recruits from?

You think it is easy to kill in cold blood and dismember a corpse? No. It takes years of deprivation, poverty, illiteracy and savagery to turn a human being into someone capable of doing all that. That is what many Northern children get from the Almajiri system.

Instructive itself to note that the Almajiri system was bastardized but ask yourself why Northern elite and leaders accept its bastardized form and have never sought to revert the system back to the ideals it was originally predicated on. Your guess is as good as mine.

Almajiri

Almajiri is a system of Islamic education practiced in northern Nigeria. Almajiri derives from an Arabic word, rendered "al-Muhajirun" in English literal translation, meaning a person who leaves his home in search of Islamic knowledge.[1]

History
Precolonial era

This system of education started in Nigeria in a town named Kanem-Borno, which had a majority of its rulers widely involved in Quranic literacy. More than 700 years later, the Sokoto caliphate was founded by a revolution based on the teachings of the Qur'an. Sokoto caliphate and Borno caliphate started running the Almajiri system together. During this precolonial era, students used to stay with their parents for proper moral upbringing. All the schools available then were in a close proximity with the immediate environment of the students. Inspectors were introduced to go round the schools and after inspection they report to the Emir of the province all the matters regarding the affairs of the school. The schools were funded by the community, parents, zakah, sadaqqah and sometimes through the farm output of the students.[2]

Colonial era
The year 1904 brought a new twist to the almajiri system of education, as the British invaded the northern part of Nigeria. During the invasion most Emirs were killed and others were deposed. The remaining emirs lost controls of their territories, this resulted also in the loss of fundamental control of the almajiri. Boko was introduced, boko meaning western education. The British abolished the state funding of almajiri schools. With no support from the community, Emirs and government, the system collapsed. The teachers and students had no financial support, so, they turned to alms begging and menial jobs for survival.[3]

Present day
A report by the National Council for the Welfare of the Destitute (NCWD) approximated the number of current almajiri to 7 million.[4] The system now lacks things like good teachers and basic amenities like proper clothing and shelter. Most of the almajiri do not graduate and are left with the option to do menial jobs. [3][5][6][7]

Ok. I now know where your problem lies. You're having heart-attack because an Almajiri is your president. You'll continue to die of hypertension because Nigeria cannot do without the Almajiri. They'll continue to hold top POLITICAL post as long as we live. The more u hate them, the more successful they become.

There's a big difference between advice and Criticism?
Advice; is to give counsel to; offer an opinion or suggestion as worth following.”
Or Advice is “an opinion or recommendation offered as a guide to action, conduct, etc.” pls check your comment above, is it related to recommendation or guide?
Wether advise or criticism, still doesn't change the fact that when we from the south say something u don't like, u simply tag us as hated.

Over the years different people have been complaining about this almajiri system but to you guys it's seems very ok and perfect.

You think when they say; " Aboki" they mean only " Hausas?''

They used the word "Aboki" to refer to everyone from the north whether Christians or Muslims, Hausas or non- hausas.

The earlier you guys gather sense and stop hating and killing yourselves based on religion or tribe the better.
I guess that's your interpretation. Say all those sh*t to the Hausa's.

Very true what you have said. But from another perspective, and I am being very sincere with my judgement not trying to provoke any kind of sentimental discussion here. It baffles my mind how despite such as the almajiri system is mainly a Northern affair very badly managed but yet the kind of thuggery and cultism in the East and South and West parts of the country such as the 1 million boys and many more. What could be the reason for such criminal gangs in parts devoid of the almajiri system yet crime rate keeps growing higher.

Of course you will always hear stories. It is what human beings do i.e tell stories whether true or false.

Is it not left to you, as an educated adult, to scrutinize stories you are told so you can discern fact from fiction?

I think the following are the causes:
1. Hard drugs abuse.
2. broken homes.
3. Media especially watching violent related movies
contributed to the surge in all these vices. Parents don't have enough time to adequately train their children. As such these children "survived" on their own through "Hussle" and in the process they lost their morality.
