Professor Balarabe Maikaba of the Mass communication Department of Bayero University has died.

A senior staff of the department Dr Gambo Nababa confirmed Maikaba’s death to The Guardian on telephone on Sunday.

Maikaba, a former head of department and member of the Senate, Bayero University, died at home after a brief illness.

Although the cause of death was not disclosed, The Guardian learnt the professor of communication research suffered high fever for four days before his death
.
Professor Maikaba is expected to be buried today according to Islamic rites.

NCDC office in Kano is closed.

No one can confirm the cause of his death right now. And as a Muslim, he will probably be buried today leaving no room for autopsy.

The cause of death is not known yet they say all is well in Kano. Just high fever for few days and no name for the sickness.
