Brother, I hail una. Your journey is inspiring for those back home who feel trapped and can begin to figure a way out. I am a Pan-africanist above a Nigerian because boundaries and land borders change, our culture/language does not (despite it being under attack). Africa has a lot to offer its inhabitants. It is a shame those white devils killed Gadaffi, because that would have been your number one destination on the continent. I knew of Nigerian and Sierra Leonean car mechanics drawing 3,000 dollars p.m when things were rosy. It was a buoyant economy.

Anyway, back to Gambia sha, I was there for a year in 2009/10, as I set up an Internet cafe in Yundun (EFAB estate), where the airport is with a Naija guy from Benin City. Gambians are ok face value, in general but they resent foreigners (Guineans, Sierra Leoneans, Naija etc...). They love their money but not their presence. Yet, they love the white stiffs coming off the plane every 2 weeks from Sweden, UK etc... and run after them like crackheads. Jammeh never allowed them to become to foolish and he jailed Imams if they began talking too much believers/infidels nonsense from their Saudi funders. He valued peace and security - but it was clear he was a a tyrant.

Security then was the best I had seen, effective roadblocks every 1 km. If you had a headache there, he would know. Funny enough, my Benin homie had bad toothache one evening (the day of an amazing 3-3 Afcon game). But he used african willpower and herbs to cure am.

Biggest problem I had there was with Gambian borders/police. Because they live off tourism, they believed their country was Eldorado. I would love to see how they are behaving now cover done lick down tourism. I will give you one quick story. I went to Dakar for New Years to chop life,
on my way back, one smallie soldier carried my bag inside his office for no reason and began swearing at me. - for no reason. That day, I no get liver for fight as I cut my foot open on a tile near swimming pool. His older papa colleague started begging me to apologise. I told him never as I did not do anything wrong. I then said that I will let Jammeh know how they were treating tourists. The smallie started shouting and saying I was not going anywhere, they how can I know his president better than him. I just got a book out from my and and sat down reading. After 1 hour, with no sight of money coming, he just dropped my bag by my side and said go....

Clinic is still new. Slight patronage is encouraging.
