A Twitter user identified as Dr Lex has berated Nigerian alternative music Star, Simi over the nature of her songs.

In a recent tweet, Lex criticized her songs, insisting that she lacks versatility as most of her songs sound alike.

“Simi’s songs are so drab, no versatility whatsoever, yes she’s got a nice voice bhet what’s all these Ajangbadi nightingale vibes all the time c’mon.”

It is a good observation but I don't think the issue is about versatility. Simi possesses ability to be versatile but the issue is that she is not adventurous in expressing herself creatively across borders of other music genres. In each of her songs, she takes off, hovers around her comfort zone and lands safely and nicely. She needs to experiment with a lot more genres as well as producers after her impending busy first-time mom experience.

By the way, this is wishing her safe delivery like the fabled Hebrew women.

He is saying the truth. How I wish she can explore her angelic voice more. She is always in her comfort zone and people might get tired of it soon. She is gifted and she can do a lot more. I still like most of her songs sha.

Sarah does ballads but Simi is an African artiste and so she shud be more colourful. African music forms the bedrock of almost every style of music in the world. She can pick from any genre but still stay true to her origin.
She is an Afrobeats musician although she tries to give all her songs a soulful touch.
she can do better than that by extending the boundaries of her creativity.
Dont compare the ballad inclined Sarah to our Afrobeats Simi.. Black is the combination of all colours. Black is colourful.. Black is rich.. Black is deep..
