Moneywomen17:You have stood to be corrected. Besides Kings College, Lagos, which other school in western region that could run with schools from the eastern region? |

The lagos ibadan express way gutter medias of the yoruba has managed to brainwash yorubas into believing this and that and that. All empty achievements that have no trace to it's roots. |

Moneywomen17:You see...you have to reason smartly... Why must you conclude that the excerpt is fake just because you were not furnished with a link? I am sure you do not have the professor's bibliography/complete body of work to ascertain whether he actually wrote the essay. May it interest you remember that before the advent of the internet, scholarly output were basically on hard copy. The piece looks like a column or a contribution to a journal/paper. It could as well be factual/authentic. |

maestroferddi:if I have to reason “smartly”u also have to reason “smartly” If there is no link to the write and it’s being read from a book why not take a screenshot of the write up and the book. If it’s a column or a contribution to a journal/paper post it also. If there is no prove of this then question has to be asked where is it being read from which means it’s fake. |

For me there is really nothing to argue about It is as clear as daylight that eastern region made more sustainable giant stride than their western counterparts We might have come a bit late in the education party in Nigeria, but oh boy did we make a colourful entrance ![]() We built the first wholly independent and indigenous university in Nigeria with our resources, no help from the white men. Unibadan have to beg for independence from their parent university in London before autono my was granted in 1962. We had the best library system in the whole country Nnamdi Azikiwe understood the business acumen of his people, and erected the biggest market in West African in Onitsha. Till today main market has flourished beyond dreams, where is the Cocoa house? Your guess is as good as mine. Most importantly for me ,unlike in the west, Micheal Okpara and Zik did not turn east to war zone like Akintola and Awolowo did in the west. Agbero politics is alien to us. We have been producing real statesmen since time immemorial. |

Subduer:Anthony Enahoro and the Itshekiri man Authur Prest founded the Mid West party in 1950 and the Mid West party became part of the Action Group in 1951. Your history seems to be defective . Show us the Party register if you have any . Infact out of the 72 seats that were initially up for grabs in the Western region in 1951, AG won 38 of that seats . It was meant to be 80 but Lagos and Benin were postponed due to security reasons . ( Lagos and Benin had 5 and 3 seats respectively) . Both AG and NCNC actually received members from the smaller parties . It wasn't an issue of cross carpeting . Ibadan had 5 seats too and IPU ( Ibadan progressive union ) won the 5 seats . 4 of those moved to AG while 1 joined NCNC. All these movements happened before the inauguration of the Western regional assembly in January 1952. No one cross carpeted to AG on the floor of the assembly during inauguration. We had AG, NCNC, the minor parties as well as independent candidates then . Because the propangada of cross carpeting to deny Zik the phantom Western region premiership has been going on for long doesn't make it the truth . The truth is sacrosanct !!! |

omonnakoda: ![]() No I don't expect you to read it. If you do the Lagos Ibadan expressway propaganda you have crammed all your life will start evaporating. It might also help to reset your basic reasoning abilities to factory setting. So that you can understand without been told that the British colonialists that came in to Igbo land at the end of the nineteenth century did not pass through the Niger brigde. That the palm oil export activities going on in the east did not happen through the Niger Bridge. That trade exchange between Onitsha and Agbor, Asaba etc did not happen through the Niger brigde You really need to return your entire school fees to your parents, you scammed them. |

gwafaeziokwu:Nonsense ! Cocoa house is still standing tall there in Ibadan . Dugbe, where cocoa house is located remains the financial/economic hub of Ibadan city . This thread is distasteful to start with . How you people decided to rope a dead Tamuno into your propangada beats me ?? Are you comparing that market with the numerous industrial estates built by Awolowo in Ibadan and Lagos Today, those estates are responsible for the chunk of Nigeria's industrial outputs and Lagos state's economic and tax base .Awo built industrial estates in Ilupeju , Apapa, Ikeja , Mushin and Ibadan . This was done in 5years of his premiership . Guy , Awolowo was in the league of his own . Awolowo no be una papa mate at all. Baba built TV station even before China and some European countries like Norway and Ireland and indeed before every country in Africa . Whenever you see NTA saying 'First in Africa ' , remember that was made possible due to the genius of Obafemi Awolowo. God bless the sage Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo

Dedetwo:The same Adisa Akinloye of the Ibadan Progressive Union ![]() Are you being deliberately slow or what . IPU won the 5 seats in Ibadan . Out of the 5 , 4 joined AG and 1 joined NCNC . This happened before the inauguration of the Western regional assembly in January 1952 . How was Akinloye a carpet crosser when he never won an election under NCNC in 1951 ?? Stop lying shamelessly against a dead man . It's not a so honourable thing to do . Well , honour isn't really a virtue known with folks from your neck of wood |

Not some emotional cry babies that have built a godlike image of a man who was obviously flawed in many ways. Help me explain to your brother up there that if Europeans didn't need Niger brigde to access the east, then traders from Africa can as well access the biggest market(Dubai in the whole subregion as of then without the Niger Bridge. |

Covidodo:The East was the first to draw up the Eastern Nigeria Development Economic Reconstruction plan (1954-1964). A ten year plan drawn by Nnamdi Azikiwe and Mazi Mbonu Ojike the great economist ( boycott all boycoattables!) Sound familiar right? The east had the first industrial development plan in the whole of Africa, they include Aba ( Factory road) Umuahia (Factory Road) Calabar (Factory Road) Enugu (Emene industrial layout) Free zone Portharcourt ( Trans Amadi industrial layout ) Owerri,Aba, Portharcourt were designated as 3 city nexus Institutions. African continental bank Cooperative bank of Eastern Nigeria Eastern Nigeria Development corporation University of Nigeria with campuses in Nsukka and Calabar Obudu tourism and Entertainment Ranch ( you are shocked right?) Niger Cem Niger Gas Niger steel ( the first indigneous steel industry in Nigeria before the Ajaokuta pretense started ) Factory glass industries Hotels ( eg. Hotel presidential Enugu) Abakaliki Rice mill Aba textile company Golden Breweries in Umuahia Standard shoe factory in Owerri ( this is where the present Aba shoe industry came from) Portharcourt sea port expansion A big force in Library development in Nigeria and of course Main market Onitsha our own mini Dubai. Neither Nnamdi Azikiwe nor his understudy Dr.Micheal Okpara was in the same league with your white elephant project master . It is a big insult to their memory for such a comparison to be made with someone who was learning from them. Did I state also that the Eastern region generated more electricity than all the other regions. Infact Oji river power plant was built first before kainji Dam. Electricity drives industrial growth,so it's not rocket science to determine who had high industrial activities. |
