Okpe kingdom is part of the Urhobo ethnic nation.Okpe is the largest kingdom in Urhobo.
Just as we have different dialects/kingdoms in other Nigerian ethnic nations. The Badagry man is a Yoruba man, despite most Yorubas don't understand that dialect.
How about the Epie dialect (Yenagoa city aborigines )in the Ijaw nation.Their dialect sounds like Isoko and Ijaw mixed together, or the Ogbia dialect in Ijaw too.But they are all Ijaws.

So you are basically basing your argument on whether or not they have a Bible in their language?

Ororokpe is one of the groups that make up the Urhobo ethnic group. Note that Okpe is one of the tribes that make up the Urhobo Nation, similarly to what applies with the Igbos where there are Wawa Igbos, the Northern Igbo tribe, and there are the Southern Igbo tribe, the Western Igbo tribe, the Eastern Igbo tribe, and the Northeastern Igbo tribe. Each of these five can be further divided into subgroups based on specific locations and names. Of course, I won't delve into that.

And then there is the many subgroups of the Yorubas where you have variations and in some cases, tough languages quite different from the regular Yoruba Language.

The Ororokpe language is tough and most, if not all Urhobos can neither speak nor understand the language save you grow up among them. The reverse is often the case for the Okpe people as most of them who get close to the Urhobo speaking folks tend to understand the language.

The Wawa Igbo language or Wawa language, particularly that of Ebonyi is tough on the ear of the typical Igbo man. But does it make the Wawa people of Ebonyi any less Igbos?

The Ife language of the Yoruba people is somewhat unique and different from the regular Yoruba people, just as the Ìjẹ̀bú language is. It still doesn't make them any less Yorùbá.

All of these subgroups I mentioned, whether among the Igbos or the Yorubas are all branches of the main tree, just as Ororokpe is a subgroup of the larger Urhobo.

You spend your time in the travel section but argue like a caveman who has never left his cave before? You should take take out some time to study before testing your knowledge in this section.
Okpe that sounds like Edo with some isoko words here and there

I know of Togo and benin republic citizens who speak yoruba and no body is coming to nairaland at every opportunity they got to dispute their ancestry, there are fulanis from every part of africa in nigeria no one is trying to separate them, why is it that all of nigeria is all the time jittery and shaking like dry leaves during rainy season at everything igbo?

Mr Eugene, no need to try and lecture me on your history. I'm not interested. Let the people you are trying to co-opt speak for themselves.

For example, Itshekiri people are decidedly Yoruboid. Yet they have formed a separate identity for themselves.

If they want to join Yorubas when this contraption called Nigeria fails is up to them and they will be welcomed with a warm embrace. If they choose to stay away, it's up to them. The link will always be there.

But not you. Everything na agidi, stronghead.
Itsekiri is not Yoruba, abeg go and sit down. Apart from linguistic affinity what else do you have in common?

Don't meddle in what you don't know. China claimed Hong Kong and are after Taiwan. I don't see you saying anything despite the fact that these places are Islands. Do you know why? That you refused to go search for your lost brother doesn't mean I should do so.
As for Itsekiri people, their history is very clear despite they being Yoruboid. Let me tell you the difference. Prince Ginuwa left Bini to the land and formed Kingdom in parts of Warri. Some Yorubas came from parts of Ondo to settle in the kingdom and overtime influenced the language so much that it became Yoruboid. It was Awolowo who made the initial Olu of Itsekiri to be Olu of Warri when they were in the Western region as against the wishes of both the Ijaws and Urhobos who together share the city hence the fightings that rocked Warri few decades ago. The Itsekiris land is not contiguous with Yorubaland I wonder how they'll claim to be Yorubas.
You see I know their history but if you discuss it here on nairaland without involving Igbos, I'll never interfere because it's non of my business.
Once again, keep off Igbo matters you know nothing about.
The Itsekiri language is very old, older than the Benin Kingdom, some experts believe it is the purest form of the Yoruboid language, it is contiguous via the coastal line.

As an Igboman from Anioma part of Igboland.
I find this thread a little bit annoying! Why can't we make a similar thread about Afikpo Igbos, Ngwa Igbos or Nsukka Igbos saying they are proud of being Igbo? Or another Igbo group? It is clear that Nigeria's Fulani leaders agenda since time immemorial has been to balkanize Igboland beginning with carving out Igbo people at the periphery of Igboland and joining them with other groups or other states as minority there. In our stupidity, we allowed them to do it for way too long.

Every true Anioma person that didn't benefit from the politics of Nigeria or Bendel State knows we have NEVER hidden our Igboness. Of course there were a few people that were motivated by the Nigerian regime to come out and say rubbish about our Igbo ancestry in their desperation to kill Biafran unity. Those people have been relegated to the dustbin of history. Moreso, Anioma Igbos singularly paid the biggest price by the genocide of our people during the civil war. If we were not Igbos, WHY WOULD FULANI SLAUGHTER US IN OUR VILLAGES?

Again, our sons volunteered and fought bravely during the Biafran war. Nobody especially Col. Murtala Mohammed will deny their fear of Col. Joe Achuzia. I know threads like this are started by Afonjas to do their bid. But, when I see respectable monikers falling for their deceit I worry about the new generation that does not know their history.
Nice one

Maybe ur own bloodline came from yoruba side and not even a pure anioma sef, that can be d only explanation for this ur comment. Some of d aniomas birthed by yoruba fathers & anioma mothers are not really proud of their ibo-ness, they are d only ones that say differently & I think u are one of them...unlike the pure bloods birthed by anioma father & anioma mother who know their origin & are proud of it. Good thing you didn't generalize like a F00L. I am one of the few who's not proud and that doesn't make me an Afonja as you tribalistic F00l will say.

Everyone must not be "Ibo" for you to like them, I am not Ibo, I am a proud Deltan.

Like I said before insult all u like, it still exposes ur impostry the more. I don't trade insults with lunatics...its below my status.

And lik I said before, those who aren't proud of their ibo origin came from yoruba blood line, which explains where u came from. If u lik shout from january to December it still doesn't change the fact that u re an anioma afonja lik d ibos do call. End of story.

Well I am pretty sure calling the igbos in delta “delta Igbo” isn’t to spite them. Delta has a lot of non igbos, so its just a simple way of identifying our brothers from delta. I’ve also used this delta Igbo countless times. So what would you like me to call the igbos in delta? Any preferred name? I’ll gladly start using it.

This has never been debated before.

I have never seen an Anioma, deny their Igboness before.
That's exactly what I've been explaining to them here but d impostors knuckleheads here don't want to listen, insists on putting confusion. I've been to asaba many times and I hardly see them denying their ibo-ness. Where I only see all this rubbish is only on social media especially on this tribalistic nairaland not even in real life. And I've told d impostors here that those few that deny their iboness are those that have yoruba bloodline, they are actually the ones that claim Benin origin here & there because they have yoruba blood line maybe father(yoruba) mother(anioma). A true pure blood anioma doesn't call himself Benin or anything, they always claim ibo...i have a lot of them as friends. Even whenever I tell them I'm ikwerre, they tell me I'm ibo too but that my own ibo is out of this planet, that they can't understand me well that much when I speak... I always get angry with them whenever they mock me on that part, telling me they are more ibo than us ikwerres and that always start up an argument btw me and them...but never the less it doesn't turn into a violent one cos we are all friends. Aniomas are ibos and I talk with several real life experience & facts! Not jus some cock & bull stories one impostor here cooked up on nairaland.
