Nigeria Population: 1921 CENSUS. 1] Hausa/Fulani - 2,000,000 [Including Kano: 1,112,000] 2] Yoruba ---------- 2,113,000 3] Igbo ------------- 3,927,000 4] Edo ----------------- 472,000 5] Ibibio --------------- 960,000 6] Ijaw ----------------- 174,000 Extrapolate this information using any Mathematics formula, it is clear that all the Census from late 50s are just mere allocation of numbers. Igbos are the Biggest Black nation (tribe) in the world. Facts are facts. Courtesy: Oxford University, Cambridge Bookshop & British Museum. 2 Likes

Frankdoz8:something is wrong with you. So you want to compare Hausa man with 4 wives and an igbo man with one wife. What will be the outcome of this 2 individuals giving birth for the next 10 years? Do the maths 6 Likes |

Q Eventhough human beings were partly designed with an emotional sense, we should sometimes render sentiments unceremonious and see things with logics and objectivity. By saying this, this op here is noone but an attention seeking tribalist whose breakfast is an ethnocentric idea, his lunch is myopic stories telling and his dinner is poorly reasoned correlation. And daily, he ruminates on this with reckless abandon. Otherwise, he would have either left the data he presented at mere discovery rather than proceeding to making an extrapolation that was unsubstantiated by present day realities. Many things had significantly impacted the narratives and the op had failed to acknowledge them namely; 1. Genocide during the cold War. 2. Immigration of the fulanis. 3. Marriage practices of the hausas/fulanis: Polygamy 4. Marriage practices of the Igbos: mostly Monogamy. 5. Family planning, number of children and age at which one enters into marriage. All of these have favored the Hausas/fulanis and have irrefutably contributed to the present day population statistics that we have. No insults intended Op. I apologize if you perceive any. 2 Likes |

kkkp: What about death rates is it only birth rates. Moreover igbo with 1 wife has a better standard of living than the hausa with 4 wives of same economic status. The igbo with his earnings can afford better opportunities for his 4 children than a huasa for 16 children of the same economic status 3 Likes |

Gordieshegz: You also forgot to add that for every Igbo kid that dies at birth, about 10 Hausa/Fulani kids die at birth, thus eliminating any perceived advantage. Also polygamy is over-rated afterall a woman in a typical polygamous relationship only has about 3 or 4 kids, which is the average of most women. Finally, when we talk of children born out of wedlock, southern people engage in this most. So I won't be surprised if out-of-wedlock kids by Igbos or Yorubas, far outnumber the same for Hausa/Fulanis. I have always known that the Southern groups are more populous. My own ranking is 1 Igbo 2. Yoruba 3. Hausa 4. Annang/Efik/Ibibio 5. Tivs or Ijoids 6. Igala 7. Fulani 8. Edo 9. Urhobo 3 Likes |

The advantage of polygamy to me doesn't hold water. This is because a myriad of factors, acute poverty inclusive ensures most of those kids in the North don't make it to adulthood. So at the end there is little or no advantage to that effect. 2 Likes |
