If you have no plan of going outside Sask, I would pick Regina.

IT jobs: Saskatoon
Government, finance (non retail banking), policy, economy jobs: Regina
Health jobs: Everywhere in Sask.
Retail banking Jobs: Everywhere in Sask.
Accounting jobs: Everywhere in Sask.
Engineering/Technical: Saskatoon and Regina.

I can't tell how easy it is in Calgary. Vacancies would surely exist for financial/retail banking roles, but getting the job would be subject to beating the competition like everywhere else.

And the competition in the labour market is about to increase. The Covid pandemic is wreaking havoc-there are massive lay-offs currently going on in all industries.

My company is even about to start their own and I am not even sure if I will have a job in the next few days/weeks.

You are right. The situation is still very fluid. No one knows if they would have a job next week or the week(s) after, or even the month(s) after.

Yes it will. It is a step in the right direction.
It will help companies with operating costs that are majorly employees wages atleast for an extra 4month and help get some laid off employees off the CERB. Air Canada and Air transat are calling back their employees as a result of the subsidy.

However, it still might not help some other companies facing severe loss of income and still have other overhead costs to cover.


Some provinces have also started easing the restrictions.

So true.

As per your questions: you can't go back to school and qualify for EI. One of the requirements for EI is that you have to be available for work..Being in school full time contradicts you being available for work full-time.
But you might want to research further on that. I am only talking from my own experience. Some people may have been able to do work around it. Especially that you are interested in online schooling.You know how all this thing's works. At tax time, you would be asked if you were in school anytime during the tax year. Your school will also send you a t2022 (tuition tax credit) or T4A (statement of income if you received nursery, scholarship or grant from school), and also send copies to CRA. So you want to make sure you qualify for EI to avoid owing when it's time to file.

For Power Engineering, about 2 years ago. Someone on here was able to get credits for some of his post secondary qualifications from Nigeria and experience working similar jobs on an oil rig offshore Niger Delta. I believe he was given his 3rd class certificate but he went through ABSA. He landed and lived in Saskatoon for less than 6month and got a job with Imperial in Edmonton not long after. Unfortunately I do not remember his username.

Yeah, I understand the Job title is not the real thing. But at this point I don't want to gamble and thats why I came here, otherwise I would have chosen one myself.

I still need an idea of what people have used in place of CSO/Teller.

Also a power engineer certificate acquired in one province, can it be used in another province. Because most adverts always say the cert must be recognized by that particular province

Yes. He got credit for his stream time using his naija experience, and he got credit for the (classroom) using his academic qualification from naija. I wish I remember his user name on here. He was also on my phone contacts list before I changed my phone and number. The last time we communicated was about 2 years ago when he sent me a whassap about his job offer at Imperial oil refinery, just outside Edmonton.

It is transferable between TSASK and ABSA. I can't tell for other provinces though. You may want to research on that. When I initially moved to Sask, my housemate (a Pakistani) worked at an ethanol plant not far from Regina, he takes his exams with ABSA (SAIT online correspondence), then would transfer to TSASK. I never bothered to ask him why he does that.

Hahaha, thank you. But Ottawa is 4hrs+ drive from Toronto na.
