Akwa Ibom is arguably the most beautiful state in Nigeria and among the least developed states too. Let's leave Lagos out of this. With all the slums and touts in Lagos it's still the most developed city in West Africa.

Meanwhile in the post you quoted . I also said that most of the Eastern aren't so spectacular

YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY A TRIBAL BIGOT

Lagos is a massive slum, agreed but do you care why 80% of the entire nollywood movie are being acted there? Where have you visited in Lagos? Did this scenery beat the Stadium road at Iponri, Lagos? What about Ikeja, especially the Alausa, the Airport Road, Opebi, the Agidingbi et all? What about Yaba or do we have to say, the Ogudu environ? All these places are on the Mainland, have you been there? What about Magodo and the neighbouring Shangisha? Did these places beat the Festac if not for the construction that's going there now that's made the road inward a little rough? Have you heard of Omole Estates? What about Okota... does these places hold a candle to it? I don't want to go into the Island, that's why I stop here. Even though Lagos has its slums, it's not in the category of development as the entire Akwa Ibom.
Some slums might be dirty like the Makoko, Bariga, Ajegunle, Orile and co, yet they are still way better than most places in Anambra, maybe save your Uyo for the development on ground and revenue generation. And we wait until we dig out Uyo properly. We hope by that time we don't find any dirt attach to a part. I rest my case.

Chairman no vex
I no get power to discuss this topic.
I have lived all over Lagos.

I'm currently in magodo estate the stench of ketu dumpsite has permeated my sitting room. The AC isn't of much use, the smell has saturated it.

Most parts of Lagos can feel the stench of the canal in which ever area they stay at , that revolting rotten eggs stench of fermented Sulphur, ammonia and shit . Even in your ikeja, alausa and ogudu , Lagos has a unpleasant stink !

I don't know how else to explain my point.
But Is it the perennial flooding ? Area boys upandan? Crazy congestion?

My point is that Lagos isn't organized. It's not about big building and mighty massive highways.

The city needs a massive rehabilitation project.

Meanwhile Keep in mind that Nollywood has become a regional thing Most ibo language movies are made in Enugu, most Yorba films are in Lagos likewise hausa films have their nothern movie center ( probably in Jos ) there use to be a massive infrastructure for movies way back.

Please let us not tribalise this issue ,
let's not be defensive because of personal bias .
By being realistic, factual and devoid of bias we can really make a difference in this shithole called.....

What part of Magodo are you living and feeling the stench? Why are people like this? Even the closer Ikosi ain't feeling no shit. You're the one that's trying to tribalised because you started it. Mind you, I put majority of the Nollywood movies because most village stuffs are being acted out of Lagos.
Was being a slum the reason why Lagos is always considered among the top cities of the world when developments are being measured. Try to tell yourselves the truth, you're the ones being biased because at the end of the day, all the slums you might consider in Lagos is far better than most places in Akwa Ibom. Plain fact!

Yinmu. Abegi relax with the hype. While you are entitled to your opinion, my experience starkly contradicts yours. In my honest assessment of Uyo, I would describe it as a big village compared to even mid-level towns and cities in Nigeria, not to talk of major cities. Yes it is clean quite alright but it's sparsely populated and looks more like a big village in its layout and development (very unplanned and haphazard layout). Development goes beyond bridges and flyovers, I'm sorry to say. I was very disappointed during a very recent pre-Covid19 visit to the state. The drive from the airport to the heart of Uyo Town was very telling - - well paved roads with empty swats of land with poorly built houses all over the place. I was like wtf??

In spite of the flyovers and bridges there was little else on ground to support that the state is developed, and I am being brutally frank here coz I was actually expecting to be wowed based on prior commentaries I had heard that were similar to yours about Uyo. Compare Uyo to neighbouring PH that doesn't have as many relatively new bridges and flyover infrastructures, and you will understand what I mean when I call the town a big village - - too slow and uneventful for a state capital. I doubt the state's entire population will be more than 4-million, from what I experienced throughout my short stay in the town. The state government needs to urgently work on/concentrate more on its human capital development because I wasn't impressed with what I met on ground one bit, to put it mildly, considering all the 'oyel money' at its disposal.

You are wise!

How many markets do you have in Uyo that has a population of 200'000 visitors per day
...You really understood my point..how can he be comparing city with scanty population with a city like Lagos.. I ve leaved in all the city in question before making my point..the problem of waste disposal alone in lagos island can make you grow grey hair..imagine the quantity of waste generated from those markets from balogun down to isale eko?....
