Fela needed FOUR drummers to replace Allen when he left. I've gone back to listen to most of Fela's music and it was as close to perfection as you can get. They made music into art 2 Likes |

Tony Allen taught himself drumming at age 18.He was Fela's musical director. When he parted ways with Fela, the vacuum or gap he left was do void that Fela TRIED to replace him with four drummers.One critic regarded him as the greatest drummer ever. 21 gunshots for the genius,and as co- creator of Afrobeats. |

My brother, it is very very sad. Just imagine it, having someone of Tony Allen's stature in fame and yet he was unknown to most Nigerians. There is something fundamentally wrong with us.
