@Gazuzz thank you for helping nairalanders out.

I bought my BMW 525i on this forum but I haven't been enjoying that car as I expected.

Issue is 1. Battery drains and car wouldn't start if left for 24hrs of recent. Now sef I have to drive it in a day to get it started next day. Diagnostic scan picked 4 fault DME...Head not coded correctly appear on dashboard.

2. Full lights doesn't on per say...only one bulb on and fog lights. Mechanics here in Ibadan have proven to be incompetent.

Even considering of sell the car sef cuz I hate stress. Please help. I could share the diagnostic reports with you if you don't mind. Thank you. @Gazuzz

You can post the issues on the BMW thread to get more insights. Forget the head not coded correctly. It doesn't affect anything. It usually occurs when the iDrive screen is replaced and not programmed as it should be.

You're having a parasitic drain, you need a technician to work on your alternator. I have experienced such on my e60 back in the days and a technician fixed it for me in Ibadan. He's around Idi ape side but I don't have his contact at the moment but can get it later today. But post on the BMW thread to get more information https://www.nairaland.com/993645/bmw-owners-forum

Why would you buy a BMW in a place like ibadan? I am afraid this is a car that you can't own in Nigeria without having DIY skills. The first issue is a parasitic drain. You need a wiring diagram to really solve this and a competent scan tool. As for the headlights, maybe one of the chargers have gone bad. They would have to be inspected.

The E60 aside from the M5 in my experience is really one of the best cars you can own. It's so sad you live in a place with a lot of useless mechanics.

You can get the E60 wiring diagram from all data and you can look up videos on troubleshooting parasitic drain from YouTube. Lemme see the codes gotten from the car.

Thank you. The bonded says it all. It's been frustrating. See below

Thanks.

I believe you have issues with alternator, check your airflow metre too cos it appears there's an issue.

Just as I suspected. There's a module behind the headlamps. You should remove yours and check if that module is still intact, if it's been contaminated by water. Change that module. It might also be causing the parasitic drain. That or the alternator is bad. If the alternator is bad. Use a multimeter to check and not one of the voodoo ways Nigerian mechanics use.

Good Oga Gazzuzz
I drive Honda Accord 2009, this morning I tried to open my car with the remote control but the lock is not opening and am sure the remote battery is fine because changed it recently. Unfortunately for me my key can't open the driver side. What can I do to get access to the car.
Thank you.

with Dead battery no. But when adding another battery via jumper cable it might . But it's your car and you have the key so just press unlock and it will shut off .

Yes there are mechanics for it

unavailability of parts
body parts are very scarce .

its durability

Same suspension durability as a honda accord of same year with a v6 engine
ruggedness for nigerian roads

Depends on the road i question. Lagos roads and Abuja roads are not the same.

The vehicle suspension is designed for luxury and comfort. You will not get the durability of a regular SUV from it.

Good afternoon Gazzuz

Trust you are safe.

I didnt drive my 2003 highlander for like 3 weeks at the beginning of this lockdown.

when i finally moved her, noticed that while driving (on D), the gear disengages and if I depress the throttle, it just revs like the car is on park or neutral.

I had to engage the reverse gear first, then move back to drive (D) before it picked again.

this has happened like twice after I first noticed it.

Please advise on how to fix this.

Thank you
