No fewer than 788 almajiris from Nasarawa State have been repatriated to their various home states.

The Nasarawa State Governor, Mr Andullahi Sule, said this while addressing the first batch of the almajiris from the southern zone of the state on Sunday.

Biding farewell to the almajiri in Government Science Schools, Lafia, the governor said the essence was for their parents to take proper care of them.

He said, “The plan to repatriate the almajiris is of good intention and not in bad motive.”

According to him, the agreement was reached when the northern governors met recently in Abuja, adding that “COVID-19 is fast racking the movement”.

Those states included are Jigawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Gombe, and Taraba states.

60% of those kids dont even know their parents,talkless of their states of origin..so how did they know they are from kano,jigawa,sokoto or yobe.

This problem will not just go away post Covid-19 EXCEPT government proscribe the Almajiri system and adequately punish the parents of the kids for that gross neglect.

Now that covid 19 pandemic is ravaging every where u people are deporting almajiris to their respective states and no ABOKI government is discriminating against it, when Fashola deported beggers to their respective states back then, they castigated him, they said every Nigerian had the right to migrate and stay in any part of the country, why can't this same hypocrites use and claim same rights for these deported almajiris by allowing states they are take care of them

We are not serious with this COVID 19. In the process of "repatriating", they could be infected and continue to spread the virus even to villages which could result in a very serious situation.

We seem to not understand that there's no confirmed cure for this virus.
