How Do I Track My Stolen Device, Please Help by giftometre: 4:19am On May 05, 2020
Good morning Nairalanders.

I just lost my phone via theft few hours ago. I have signed in Google account as well as 'Find My Device' installed and signed in
on the device.

Can I track the phone using IMEI? I've tried using 'Find My Device', the phone isn't connected online.
Does Find My Device tracks the phone using IMEI? That is, if the SIM is removed or phone is factory resetted, can I still track it using IMEI once the phone is connected to the internet?

Can MTN/Airtel help in this situation (I had both SIMs inside)? Please what other reliable methods can I use to retrieve my phone here in Naija? Please help me, thanks.

The only thing keeping me company this period . embarassed embarassed

Admin, kindly take to front page, thanks.

My experience with stuffs like this

First you must have your mobile data on. You can't track the phone...but you can know the last location synched to your phone.

Actually the guys that took my phone were little guys and they really don't know much about technology.

I logged in to my gmail and set my phone to show.. it was stolen and they should call a number

I guess when those guys saw that they had a feeling maybe i could track them.. so they called the number i put and warned us not to bring police... lol

Initially they were not picking calls but when the stuff started showing on the phone they picked .. they panicked i guess..

Summary is if the phone should fall into the hand of a techy person..
He might not really bother about what was displaying on the phone.

Did you register your device with your Gmail account? If yes,use someone else's phone to open the 'My device finder and enter your Gmail account. You can track the location of your device.
Note:Only if your location is enable and data is on.

I have logged my Gmail account and find my phone. I actually sent that message and phone number to call too. I suppose the phone has been switched or the data is off and SIM cards removed...

I'll try the option on network providers, hoping it wouldn't be extra stressful for me.
Thanks for your input.

That is the handicapped situation. The location was off and seems the phone is currently off/SIMs removed.

If you register with your Gmail account you can track it.But since your location mode is switched off you can't track your phone location.
