Human Right Activists Going Extinction In Nigeria? by GudPpleG8Nation(m): 7:29am On May 07, 2020 |
Yesterday, news of how Mr Femi Falana (SAN) assisted a 36 years old man that spent 6 years in Nigeria correctional facility without trial get freedom without collecting a dime surfaced on the internet. Only God knows how many Nigerians are been victimized, intimate and oppressed in one way or another. The likes of Femi Falana, Ken Saro Wiwa, Fela Kuti, Chief Gani Fawehinni, Barr Bamidele, Omoyele Sowore etc are seasoned human rights activists of high standard; bold, fearless, integrity, vibrant and outspoken in the face of oppression. However, out of the few names mentioned above, we only have two left with us (Mr Femi Falana and Omoyele Sowore) and are aging gracefully. They have fought and still fighting for the masses in respective of tribe, ethnic or religion even though we rarely appreciate them. Femi Falana, Barr Bamidele and Chief Fawehinmi use their profession as a lawyer to fight and stand for the masses. Fela Kuti makes use music. Omoyele Sowore is using journalism. Who will take their places when they left the stage? Do we still have people of integrity and the same pedigree? Do we still have activist that are not selfish? Do we still have lawyers that are ready to fight for us without extorting us? Do we still have journalists that are not biased, and corrupt? Do we still have musicians that will use music to speak for us? COVID-19 is really teaching us ( and, the whole world) a lot of lessons, we should stop running away from this country to a society where the citizens stood their ground, reject oppressors and fight for themselves. Let's stood our ground, join hands together( irrespective of our tribe, religion and ethnics) and speak and fight against injustice, intimidation and oppression. Sooner, Nigeria of our dream will be a reality! CC: Seun Mynd44 Lalasticlala 1 Like 1 Share

The likes of fela, gani fawehinmi, Ken sarowiwa, fought for Nigeria with their blood but the activist of today are thieves, all they want is political appointment, people like sheu sani, Dino melaye, the head of npa(can't remember her name) etc |
