Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on Wednesday said the state’s palm oil-producing industry, ADAPALM, could employ about 35,000 people if fully revived.

The governor said this while on an inspection visit to the palm oil industry to have an on-the-spot assessment of the state of affairs in the industry.

He said the industry if revived, would help the state government in facilitating industrial growth, harmony, expansion and increased productivity.

Mr Uzodinma said he was happy that production had resumed once again at ADAPALM and that 120 tonnes of Grade A palm oil was being produced daily.

He said that placing ADAPALM in its rightful place would boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.

He said the company was a value chain that could produce not only palm oil but also other oil-related products like margarine, sheer butter and palm kernel oil, among others.

The governor said: “We are committed to bringing ADAPALM back to the stream. It’s one of our greatest hopes of surviving the post-COVID-19 era.

“The economy is almost becoming epileptic. We have to look inward to see how best we can restructure our economy, boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and then ensure that our citizenry is also busy.”

There's so much food and natural resources in Igboland that they can feed West Africa as soon as they are granted their own country.

We're exporting Palm oil In Nigeria, just that we are not fully into agriculture, that's why our agriculture exports are low.

Thank you for continuing where emeka stopped

But I think soil science and crop science of imsu ...need to be given a mandate ...we need them to develop improved specie ...even if we don't plant them in government farms ...we can sale it to our people at the cost price ....imagine planting 10 million trees across imo state every year for 8 years ...that's 80 million trees that can produce 10,000 worth of palm oil per year at minimum
That's 800 billion worth of palm oil added to our gdp ....tax 15% out of that and that's 120bn per year

We need the same for ube fruit , udara ...we need good species ..not planting them and waiting for luck to make them sweet ....

This alone can add 3 to 5. Billion dollars to our gdp

Not to talk of plantain and banana ...we can formalize this sectors ...and get great revenue from them

Or just because we have had incompetent leaders in the zuu, exporting more palm oil might mean empowerment of Ibos grin

Call it as it is pal.

U don't know what u are talking about.
Ghana is presently making money from oil palm export all over the world where's Nigeria has oil palm more than Ghana.
This below is palm fruit concentrate made in Ghana. Can imo reproduce this?
All Nigerians in diaspora use this to make their native foods and they are as good as the palm concentrates we make in our kitchens.

The problem of Nigeria is the politicians.
The oyibos downplayed and totally condemned palm oil with such flimsy excuses like deforestation and health benefits but recently even one of their most popular health Dr has started canvassing for it.
The question is?
Can your politicians key into this?
Can they think above the immediate gain?

I'm talking about export that boasts foreign exchange. Nigeria don't export palm oil.
So revisiting that palm plantation is waste of money if the palm fruit proceeds from it can't be exported. That's what I mean.

You guys can continue with shedding each other, that's none of my biz.

The types of beans we have in nigeria is the best yet we cant export them. Is it garri, yam, millet or corn.
We export nothing as far as agriculture is concerned compared to the rest of the world. Look at groundnut.
Everybody want to start ghost project once they came to power just to siphon money.

You are wrong.
Seedlings is what makes great farming. Without that u are nowhere. Great farmers( international farmers) know that. There are research institutes that concentrates only on seedlings.
