Governor of Rivers State..

Gov. Nyesom Wike yesterday said that the main reasons why He Demolished the hotels in Rivers State is not only because the hotel endangered the lives of the good people of Rivers State by opening, but because the task force officers he sent, were beaten and dealt with..

I do believe some of the task force officers approach matters in an unfair manner.. No manner of approach and most of them are not diplomatic.

Not ruling out the fact that the hotels made a mistake by opening and they are to be blamed for anything they receive. If they had closed, I believe they won't be embarrassed and harassed in this manner.

The question is: Is the governor's action constitutional? Is there a constitutional provision that stipulates the demolition of a business building that contravenes a lockdown order? Does the continued existence of the structure pose any potential threat to the lives and properties of the good people of Rivers State? ...

I believe Wike's action was rather driven by power than by law, but the law is supreme.

Let aggrieved parties seek redress in court.

Wike I believe is a Lawyer by profession.. He is supposed to know the after effects of anything that He is venturing into.. I overhead a radio station this morning saying something about the law that was put in place that says any beer parlour, hotel, eatery or establishment that fails to comply with the lockdown order will have the structure Demolished..

If that is the case I believe the owners of these hotels and the people at large are just crying over spilled milk..

But if that very action of Gov. Wike isn't backed by law then He should have himself to blame
But like I said I believe He knows what he is doing and should be responsible for his actions as a Law practitioner.

Wike is acting like the Judge, Jury and Executioner. He has acted above the law with these measures. The hotel owners need to sue the River's State Government for loss of income and livelihood.

What has this demolition achieved? More unemployment and an environmental hazard and eyesore with these structures that will remain there forever because in Nigeria we do not believe in cleaning up after a disaster or demolition.

Well said... We need more employment opportunities. If only he will provide more opportunities for those that will loose their jobs as a result of the demolition
