Chairman of Borno State Response Committee on Prevention and Control of COVID-19, who is also the state’s deputy governor, Hon. Usman Umar Kadafur, has said that the state government decided to suspend the three-week old lockdown but with stringent measures to be adopted by both the government and people.

He also commended the people of the state for their support and cooperation during the lockdown while appealing to the state association of Ulamas and CAN to ensure strict compliance with the face masks wearing and maintenance of social distancing in mosques and churches during worship.

The deputy governor stated this in a statement on Wednesday night before the expiration of the lockdown by 10:30pm.

The statement further warned tricycle riders and other public transport operators to adhere strictly to the established rules and guidelines of wearing face masks and observing social distancing.

It also warned hotels and alcohol joints are still closed and the law on liquor will be applied to any defaulter.

The statement also stated that henceforth, five times prayers are allowed in mosques while Christians will open churches and conduct their services based on the recommendation of CAN leadership as agreed.

The lockdown in the 1st place was a waste of time. Locking people up because of a virus that won't probably go now is really foolish. The time and energy these numskulls that called themselves governors waste in mounting roadblocks and demolishing hotels would have been better if they use that time in enlightening their masses on the importance of social distancing and the use of face masks. Smh!

Not necessarily a waste of time. it is easier for contact tracing and testing. You also made mention of enlightenment about social distancing and use of face mask. Nigerians don't abide by the rules, we've seen Abuja and Lagos.

This is most cheering news that I read today. Lockdown has not achieved any purpose in Nigeria. Before Lockdown, our positive cases in Nigeria was two-digits after lockdown it skyrocketed to four-digits 5000. Even after lockdown in Lagos , the cases has reduced compare to what Lagos used to record during Lockdown ( 100+ 200+) . Nigerian government should make Madagascar convid-19 organic cure available for everyone and normal life should be restored immediately.

No more lockdown!!!

Lockdown is a waste of time. The only reason why the world adopted the lockdown approach was because it kind of actually worked for China. But the same world forgot that China is a communist state were your rights will be taken from you with or without your consent. Pray tell me; what has the lockdown achieved so far even in advance European countries aside from crippling their economies? Nothing. Why do you think they are opening up their countries now by adopting different strategies from the calamitous lockdown?

It shouldn't just be about relaxing the law.
The public needs to be enlightened on preventive measures.

Sometimes when I hear people talk on Covid 19.
All I can do is just to sigh.. Cos I dont knw where to start educating them.

What are you saying Mr. Man?

How is lockdown a waste of time in places like Italy, Spain and U.S?

How many more people would have died?

Is it because it didn't affect anyone close to you?

What about the overwhelming of medical centres for those who have other terminal illnesses to get treatment?
