What if a state has a land that its obvious that it will never be used for any economic activity apart from empty forests. And. We are willing to pay $1million dollars for it

You said you as Igbos have a lot of work to do if it's not legal to buy another State's territory.

Does the Nigeria constitution allow for a state or citizen this buy land from another state and with the right amount of money and compensation the seller of the land would permanently relinquish all rights to the land to the buying state, forever?

And the federal government allowing for it?
Coldie:

No, if you want to adjust state line boundries here's the process below. Look in chapter 1. Part 2, section 8.2.

An Act of the National Assembly for the purpose of boundary adjustment of any existing State shall only be passed if-

(a) a request for the boundary adjustment, supported by two-thirds majority of members (representing the area demanding and the area affected by the boundary adjustment) in each of the following, namely-

(i) the Senate and the House of Representatives,

(ii) the House of Assembly in respect of the area, and

(iii) the local government councils in respect of the area. is received by the National Assembly; and

(b) a proposal for the boundary adjustment is approved by -

(i) a simple majority of members of each House of the National Assembly, and

(ii) a simple majority of members of the House of Assembly in respect of the area concerned

I have been studying the geography of the east with google earth for sometime now. The only thing holding us from the coast is less than 15km... Dredging and compensation.

But it reacquires that we buy land areas surrounding the area we are to dredge.

If you buy the land, it still belong to the state you bought it from except you adjust the boundary with the state which seems impossible

Lol..you don't need to buy the land areas to dredge..land belongs to state governments.
Besides it's easier to dredge the river in Abia to Atlantic Ocean or the Cross River in Afikpo in Ebonyi to Atlantic Ocean than to dredge River Niger

you guys should be contented with what you have. that is the reason yoruba people always call u guys land grabbers. you plan to buy land in another region, then annex it to your region. every country must not have access to the sea. ok

Go and read international waterways law, if Nigeria cease to exist River Niger will be international waterways it will be accessible by both Igbos and North nobody have the right to block them, only what is required is dredging for bigger vessel
Re: Hey there by oyatz(m): 5:56am On Mar 21, 2020
You can buy lands anywhere sir.

You can buy the whole of Cross River State and even some parts of Cameroon. This will increase your land mass with a long coast line.

Land grabber are people who take land by force ...igbos only want to pay for what we get ...it's done all over the world ....if you hate igbos cause of that then you have a problem

Igbos have paid most times above market price for ever land we have gotten Nigeria outside Igbo land so relax

America bought the land outrightly. If you buy a land in another state it would still belong to the state.
Re: Hey there by Melezenawii: 10:51am On May 15, 2020
It is now you realize that you are landlocked region. What do you need that for?

What people are saying about you is actually true. Complex mentality? Which state is ready to cede their land? Is it oil rich Bayelsa ? Rivers? Akwa Ibom? Cross Rivers?

When you depends on other parts of Nigeria to sell your goods. You have the least population, hence least buying market in your region compare to other regions.

Your survival is dependent on Nigeria and Nigerian Population

Firstly the boy asked a very harmless question ...you people could have answered him without bringing the land grabbing into it

Every Igbo man know the value of access to the sea , and him like most igbos think if we get a country without south south we won't have access to the sea

But that cant be further from the truth ...if Biafra becomes and all Igbo affair ...we have to channels to the ocean which would aromatically become international waters ...the imo river and the Niger river
