rationalhuman:The first successful human vaccine was made by simply taking pus from the sores on a lady with cowpox and rubbing it into the wounds of healthy people to protect them from smallpox. The second one was made by infecting a rabbit with rabies and injecting the weakened virus harvested from its spinal cord into a boy who had been bitten by a rabid animal. Many vaccines since them have been made by growing human viruses in chicken eggs for several generations to reduce their virulence in humans. I don't see why can't we do such things in Nigeria. It would be nice to have BSL-3 labs, but I doubt that researchers need extreme safety measures that can't be attained in Nigeria to work on a disease that is currently spreading in the country. You would need extreme safety measures to work with Ebola because of the risk that it would escape from the lab, but you wouldn't need them to work on malaria or the common cold viruses which are already everywhere in the country. And you are talking about Vaccine development for such thing? We dont have Genome Copying Systems and know how, First you need to map the Genome of any pathogens then you do Bio-molecular research.Vaccines were developed and successfully administered for many decades before the first "Genomic Copying System" was developed. Cure will come from India, US, Britain, Canada or Australia. We can just wish and pray for their success. We people from this continent are indeed most unproductive and irrational humans on this planet, no wonder whole worlds laugh at us. Tell me you were in jolly mood while posting this. Comparison with India?India is very similar to us. They have a corrupt and inefficient government, and a large population which includes millions of extremely poor people living in dirty slums. But unlike us, they are willing to try to do things by themselves, instead of giving up and waiting for the West to do everything for them. Europe, Asia and America will not provide sufficient vaccines to us until they have vaccinated the majority of their own citizens. This may take years. Fortunately, there are many Nigerians abroad who know how to make vaccines; why can't we ask them to please help us? |

Seun:On the contrary , making vaccines for viruses requires restricted expertise , know how and importantly high bio security facilities . It is more difficult than rocket science. Especially undocumented new viruses on which no R & D has been published or is ongoing. Only few countries in the world USA , INDIA , FRANCE , UK , CHINA , RUSSIA have the capabilities along with SOUTH KOREA , JAPAN Under BWC only the former countries are allowed to share and transfer technologies that are prohibited under biological weapons convention for defensive purposes. Since biological weapon programs ( even for defensive purposes ) requires the highest know how and hi tech facilities and equipments , only the said countries possess the expertise and resources to develop vaccines for highly complicated viruses. Viruses r a molecular entity which can be perse assumed to analogues to a sentinel being , highly complex . They are not simply blocks of amino acids , they r " sentinel " meaning they can adapt , evolve and exploit vulnerabilities in the host molecular system to replicate propagate and survive. Their operational mechanism is similar to mechanism in our brains though at lower complexity levels , our human behaviour is nothing but outcome of neurological interactions of amino acids, neurotransmitters , neuro receptors , firing of synapses from one neuron to another numbering in millions per second determining out wordly interactions like fight or flight etc . Same basic mechanism drives these viruses. So no, primitive vaccines does not even come into question. Right now only researchers from USA , CHINA , INDIA , EU , JAPAN , S KOREA are publishing their research papers on corona virus on almost daily basis with concurrent development of vacancies in the said countries via pharmaceutical companies / govt agencies of the said countries only. Seun:I agree with virtually all of your stance regarding how to handle this covid-19 but you see the bold part up there is a little bit illogical. This Nigerians you say we have, aren't really ours. That devilish concept of treating talented/skillful folks as public property is what made us lost these skillful hands to other nations. They are better off in a society that can help harmonise their skill for the greater and timely use of humanity than our backwards system. What do you think will happen when you bring talented Igbo's, Yoruba's, Calabars, Fulanis, and Hausa's back then put them together. Division and strife picks up again and the end result suffers one more time. Those brain aren't really ours and are better off in where they were able to attain those enviable status. |

CodeTemplar:I have changed the wording. The original wording wasn’t intended to be malicious. So, just like India, we are lucky to have highly skilled Nigerians working in labs all over the world. We should ask for their help and pay them very well if they choose to return to Nigeria in this difficult time and help us to make a vaccine. |

Seun:You are actually making sense... Sometimes, before all this high tech labs, solutions weren't available and simple. But they is still a issue. Getting the vaccine is one thing, getting it approved is another then getting the massive fund to set up facility to produce for just Nigeria alone,... 220 million at 5 million per month would take billions of dollars and upto 4 years Not to factor in time it would require to administer the vaccine. |

Seun:Nigerians or any foreigners abroad sometimes excel because of the cutting edge resources and experience available in the said foreign countries. If the same Nigerian or foreigners were to stay and work in their own countries , they will be nobodies without the availability of high tech facilities and experience , the very same reason why they migrated to another country in the first place. Do you think developed countries will share their resources and technologies with us ? If you don't have them how will you build the same. It is not impossible but it is bordering impossible. Nigeria is Nigeria , India is India , each is unique and share no correlation whatsoever. Ad hominem comparisons and similarities don't hide the obvious differences and only increases excuses to hide under. During WW1 British and Australian surgeons consulted and followed ancient Indian medical texts and techniques to perform plastic surgery on injured soldiers same as it's done thousands of years ago in India. During my travels i visited royal Australian college of surgeons , Melbourne where I saw the bust of Sushruta an Indian 600 BC honoured as father of surgery. Indian expertise in science, mathematics , medical science is not of today , it is part of their documented 10,000 years old civilization . It is their pedigree. No other country except for china even comes close to it. Corruption exists in every country , the important question is the way corruption manifests itself . There is corruption in Japan too , the only difference is in Japan the corrupt r not greedy they take a small cut while ensuring the quality and timely completion of project is not compromised. Same across other countries , the only difference is in level of greed by the corrupt. Unfortunately Nigeria for its much smaller population has more poorer people and it is increasing day by day . Best we introspect for solutions than compare with the incomparable. It is ironically on many levels that while we are thinking of building BSL 3 labs someday , the same India you compared to , developed and started manufacturing 2 types of mobile BSL 3 lab on wheels in less than 2 weeks just to cater for on demand facilities at any desired location. Things like this shows the difference between actual real life reality and perception bias with regard to capabilities between any 2 countries. We have a long road to walk or rather crawl before we can even walk |

India is similar to us? You have no idea what you have just said. Okay tell me which sector you want to compare first, Be specific, IT? Software Development? Heavy Engineering Industry? Space Programs? Energy generation? Healthcare? Automotive Industry? Aviation industry? Education Sector? Petro Chemical sector? Or you want to talk about their Pharmaceutical and Vaccine manufacturing capabilities? We are not same, come out of dilution. Just be specific. Seun: |

Which part? You think such pathogens should be handled anywise? I will start worshiping my own kind if we make a cure, Produce A Science Nobel winner. I guess you must be using everything developed by Foreigners, Be it Electricity, Medicines, cars, Phones, Internet, Communication Devices, Led lamps. No shame in acknowledging the real developers and giving credit where it due, If that makes us white worshiper then fine by me. We dont have simple Genome copying facility and know how available and just mentioning that makes me white worshipper? wow We take too much pride while doing nothing. Accept realities. Austine1212: |

Flexherbal:Yeah. He will. But God sends the virus, in the first instance, to bring men to their knees. This confirm what Pastor Adeboye said when social distancing started in Lagos then. That word kept resonating in my mind. He said the virus has come to stay and God will cut it off it when the time comes. |

This is Italian parliament, listen to the concerns. Hear a law maker quote Bill Gates. I have done my own research and most are true. Do you your own research after watch the video with the below link https://www.instagram.com/tv/CARjIMsnNi2/?igshid=1xto02qe3hk2p ceejayluv: |

Correcto:This is exactly what The like of Dino Melaye and ffk would have done if they were in our NA. Conspiracy theorists are in all walks of life. The moderator even had to calm some group of people that were obviously out to dispute her . Oh, Did she just talk about 5G too?.. As for Bill Gates opinion on population, here's a clearer picture rather than the "forceful depopulation" myth. I don't know how improvement on access to family planning and birth control equals forced sterilisation agenda. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/09/africas-rapid-population-growth-puts-poverty-progress-at-risk-says-gates/ |

Lol Nigeria can't be compared to Italy. By the way I made research on the quotes on Bill Gates. I am certain you made no research on any of the comments but you are quick to spew trash. You don't even know what conspiracy theory is about. Define conspiracy theory first. Even the link you posted I am certain you did even bother to research on it. SMH ceejayluv: |

Correcto:She spewed typical conspiracy theory rhetoric about 5G, fictitious 500,000 polio vaccine victims in India and other gibberish pulled straight from any random YouTube wannabe conspiracy channel. That's pretty clear. I'll need a link to where Gates advocated mass sterilisation or Straight up genocide. |

Lol that's is why you need to research yourself so you can appreciate it better. I said most quotes on Gates are true, meaning some are also not true. Make research, even you tube is not entirely reliable because they deleted most videos already. Research research research. I am about to research on the link you posted, do your own research too. ceejayluv: |
