@ your first paragraph... I'm telling you, assuming I found about this travel section earlier since I joined nairaland. With the information and ideas radiating about, I no sure say I for dey Nigeria today. I don't even bother to go on front page again. Once I open nl, direct to travel section. This travel section has helped a lot of people leave this country.
Front page is gone to the dogs, it's more like a traffic zone fit a cluster of silly topics. This (travel section) is where knowledge and exposure is grin

I would very much love it, if this page is also not moved to Front Page as well as it would attract pained and angry people with no relevant information onboard. Let it just remain as a hidden treasure for the right seeker TBH

Guy this your question is weird and it reeks of Paedophilia. Just look at your choice of words. undecided

I wonder why you would be interested in knowing that

Yeah the question was a bit out of nowhere and not the best choice of words but it is VERY important. That was why I answered it. White people usually look older than their age and consent is a huge thing here. Messing with the wrong person can land someone in jail. You’ll find these youngins in clubs trying to act grown and doing grown people things. You’ll also find them on dating apps. Some of them lie about their age but be careful. The police won’t hear that.

A LOT of people including black people are in prison for sex crimes. 2 years ago, a Nigerian boy got in trouble for messing with a teenage German boy. I don’t know the particular details about that story. Such things happen a lot here.

These are things we don’t take seriously in Nigeria. That’s why you’ll see 13 year old girls serving as house maids and getting raped by their boss. Even those teenage street hawkers who get touched by irresponsible adults. If only these discussions came up more, people would be aware of what age limit the boundaries are set.

This information is part of German law and foreigners coming into the country should know it. Consent age is 16. In rare circumstances, 14.

Those Indian and Pakistani students are so annoying. They also like to do “I too know” on everything and show themselves. Most of them don’t like Africans but their prejudice is useless because they don’t have any power in Germany.

They also get discriminated against a lot in Germany. They are the least preferred when it comes to dating and friendships. That is because they hold on their traditional beliefs and don’t compromise to get along with other internationals. They are also very judgmental.

When you work with them, they want to prove they can outsmart you. They are the type to report you to management and set you up. If you dare tell them your secret, they can sleep in police station overnight until police hears it. That’s how annoying they are.

They cook with so much curry and your entire apartment will be smelling like a restaurant everyday. They also bring their community along. So if you have one Indian/Pakistani in your house, expect to see his village people visiting him everyday. Also expect him to make loud phone calls. What is more annoying is when they’re explaining their vegetarian diet to you. They don’t care if you’re interested, they just keep preaching.

They also want to know everything. “Mind your business” is not in their dictionary. They’re not interested in your story, they just want to know all about you so they can learn how to defeat you.
I think it is inferiority complex, they always see Africans as their competitors.

I think it varies. Some people don't want to live in Germany forever, hence they try to invest back home so once it's their retirement, they will go back and enjoy their investment. This is my opinion though, from what I've observed.

I'm still a student, so I don't feel that settled just yet, but I have my family here so I feel somewhat settled, if that makes sense lipsrsealed

I will not give all the information because this is a public forum and I want to remain anonymous. But before I left Nigeria, I saved my NYSC money every month and managed. I told my friends I wanted to travel, they laughed at me. But I was determined. I got international passport and just kept it, even though I had no means. Getting that Nigerian passport was my motivation every day.

I used my NYSC money to apply to schools. I applied to 27 schools, got rejected by all of them. My money finished. My friends said I was crazy but I didn’t give up. I used the last money I had to apply to another University but I didn’t give it any hope. I didn’t hear from them.

My spirit just told me to send the school an email about my application. I did and they replied. They said they offered me admission and sent me a letter since 3 months ago. And the school was about to resume. Turns out my letter was in Nipost. Stupid people threw it one corner.
I went to Nipost and begged them to look for it, gave the man money. He eventually found it after 2 weeks. Then it was late. I didn’t have money to travel anyway.

I emailed the school and they agreed to move my admission to the next semester. I was happy. Then I started hustling for money and selling property and praying. One rich Igbo man I used to greet and wash his car sometimes, one day he shook my hand and gave me money. I opened it and it was $600. I thought I was dreaming or he made mistake. But it was true. I knew it was God at work.

I eventually got enough money, went for interview, I didn’t know anything or anybody in Germany. Did all my research online every night. I was buying recharge card just solely for research. I did interview and kept hoping.
I was in Ikeja under bridge eating egg roll and drinking coke, when I got the message from German embassy to come with travel insurance. I knew it was visa. All the while, I didn’t tell anybody. I kept it all to myself.

I went on Facebook and joined apartment groups for people in Germany and found a room with some German guys before I left Nigeria. I went shopping, got my ticket. First time traveling abroad, I was sweating like Jackie. I changed my money at the airport. Before I boarded the plane, I went to toilet to sh*t out everything about Nigeria.

I arrived Dubai and took another flight to Frankfurt. Germany was so cold. I didn’t even know what train looked like or how to read signs. But thanks to my Android phone, google maps and translate showed me everything. I asked some people about the train and went to my city.

I used google maps to locate the flat and rang the bell. Met the German guys and they showed me my room. They said I’ll stay for 3 days then they’ll decide if they like me as a flat mate or not. They later liked me and I lived with them. They helped me with everything about registration, bank account, insurance, transport, they taught me everything. They even drove me to buy things for my room. I met their friends as well.
They took me to the stadium for the first time in my life, being in a stadium watching a match live.

I eventually went to my school and my life started from there. I made lots of mistakes and got lost many times in Germany. I suffered o. People used me and threw me out of their house. Even Nigerians. Even the Nigerian church I was attending, they helped me but they almost destroyed me.
Na here we dey today and the rest is history.

I'm sorry for all you went through and grateful to God you found your way around. Some people get stuck in the bottom once they go down.

But, don't see this as me intruding into yoir personal life. Might you share lessons drawn from your sad experiences I highlighted?

Some of us don't deserve to make similar mistakes, don't you think?

Thanks

Mainz is a small city close to Frankfurt. Nothing happens there. Just working class people and most of them work in Frankfurt. Mainz and Wiesbaden is where you’ll find a lot of Congolese and Ivory Coast people. They are usually nurses and they can dress up for Africa. Just picture Fally Ipupa and how he dresses. Most of them were born in Germany. They’re also very good looking and loud.

The Germans there are basically the same ones in Frankfurt. Except that they have the small city syndrome. They’re also rich.
