Down stream from Jebba in Niger Republic, the river Niger enter its lower course flowing East -Southeast through a broad and shallow valley 5 to 10 miles. from Jebba in Niger Republic it is joined by the Kaduna river.
At Lojoka, the river received the water of its greatest tributary which is the Benue river thereby doubling the volumes of its discharge. from lokoja the Niger river flow south passing some notable towns and villages such as Idah and Onitsha. the River Niger flow to Aboh in Delta state and separated into many branches flowing through the present state of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers state before reaching the Gulf of Guinea.
One of the major reason why River Niger can't be classify as an international water because the River Niger passes through lot of towns and creeks in the Niger Delta region.
what make Niger republic a landlock country is because the river Niger passes through another country Called Nigeria.
if Nigeria should disintegrate in future time, every boat or little ship that intended to use the River Niger to access the sea will be subjected to screening and taxation from the Niger Delta.
Niger Delta will have full Authority and will be Responsible for the Security of the water without interference from world body and other region that have access to the River Niger ( Niger Republic, Northern Nigeria and South East )
