Great post but python and its tools take atleast a year to be proficient because it's very wide.

From what I've read, you are ashamed of doing what puts food on your table. Many are looking for your type of job to no avail. Remember to keep that I'm a polytechnic graduate nonsense by the corner. What makes you think that you are better or wiser than those who didn't go to school? I'm presently running a PhD programme and that doesn't stop me from hustling in any form, shape or scope. Hustle hard o, forget about girls now and hustle, keep building your resume with interesting skills while at this job, start dropping your upgraded resume like a mad man to any company you see, who knows when your luck would shine?
Some graduates in their skill section would put Microsoft word, excel grin, typing skills, I would just laugh. What happened to I can analyse data using python data science module such as Pandas and then visualization through matplotlib and Bokeh. This wouldn't even take you up to 2-4weeks to master. Upgrade yourself daily, read, read and read.
Can you save some cash and aquire basic shoe making and Pam slippers production machines? Or even attach yourself with a mechanic to learn motor repair or generator repair (Mikano)?

If it is the issue of girls not liking you, then stop telling them directly you're an ordinary security man. Tell them you work undercover for Nigeria secret force. Many Nigerian girls No get time to search if there is anything like that or not grin

To the issue of people looking down on you? I tell you it is normal. It is a phase that i believe some of the great men of this modern era have passed through. No sir, the hardest part of programming is setting up your development environment. Install python and it's dependencies, install the modules you'll be using, master the Data structures and download a tutorial on what you want to learn. Watch this tutorial for a week and try to do things on your own. It's not so hard.

If You've Done This Job Before, Pls Tell Me Your Experience Too

This my thread is just mainly for single men and guys outside there and I would like to share my experience with you guys on what I have undergone and experienced as a Security guard.

To be a security guard is not a job I can advise my enemy to opt for let alone my friend or relation. The job is a regardless one and very disgusting.

As a security guard, you are more or less a beggar in the street, should I say beggar has a little regard more than you.

When people see you, they see nothing in you. Most especially when you're trying to speak to them in English making them to know that you're educated...(laugh..) You just did it wrong, to them it means you are having mental problem.

The image impression of 98% of people on guys who do this job to hustle for their lives rather than involving in criminal practices is that they have no future; is that they cannot make it in their lives; e.t.c.

Since I've started this job when I finished my program in the polytechnic, any lady I made to know about the job I do turns me off later, some said it's a beggars' work.

And currently, I hardly have female friends not to talk of girlfriends or marriage.

Though, I didn't mean to start this job before if not condition, but now I'm planning to quit the job and find another.

Sometimes, I cried in my room, begging God to show me another way.

One of the workers in the place of work that I'm guiding once told me that his dog is better off than me. This is even the person that cannot even compose simple correct English, he said his dog is better than me.

Your experience too is allowed... Thank you.

You are not there to impress anyone or make friends or feel better about yourself. You are there to do a job, make money and find something better. Take dignity in labour and know that it is a stage which you must plan to graduate from. You're earning a living not stealing. Save money and progress to something else. Don't sit down there lamenting, girlfriends and co are not your priority right now.

No sir, that is a wrong perspective. Whatever work you do is not what matters but your ability and integrity on the job. Any woman who rejects you because of your job is not your own, move on.. It is possible you get to higher and better places through the lowly job you have now. Do not despair as very low attitude toward this job may cost you better chances. Be hopeful Bro!

This is basically a societal/cultural problem in Nigeria. Our belief system does not encourage dignity of labour but rather places value on getting rich quick, it has always been so long before Yahoo Yahoo & money rituals became profound crimes.

I know someone that had his B.Sc and masters degree in the UK and worked as a security guard at some point as a side hustle, yet he nor the people around him didn't see it as a big deal. One of Obama's daughters served as a fast food restaurant attendant during his time as the president of America to keep her busy while on holiday etc etc. Menial jobs may not pay fantastically but they're important services nonetheless.

These show that we really need to change our orientation and value system here.

OP just persevere, you'll get a more desirable work soonest

The problem i see here is you yourself.as a man thinketh in his heart so is he says the bible.you need to reframe your mindset and turn your thought pattern to positivity.nothing is wrong with security guard job.i know of someone that made a first class in the university and worked as a security guard in a bank.saluting customers and opening doors for customers until a major breakthrough came his way and he got a good job.i know a guy that use to pursue motors to sell pure water on the express road.the guy saved enough money from the business and later travelled abroad.remember "no one can make you inferior except you first make yourself inferior.

I once worked as I security guard in one of those oil companies in port harcourt. The salary was manageable (70k) 15 days on 15 days off. till I stopped that work nobody ever looked down on me because I never gave them the opportunity. My dressing, character, communication and attitude towards the job and people around me is always top notch.

You can not be begging people for money and expect them to respect you. The way you dress and your level of confidence matters a lot.

Mate! i ve done security job, one of the best jobs i ve had, worked at london olympic stadium during the london Olympics, met several footballers and celebrities, Usain bolt, Mike tyson, Hue ming song, Harry kane, Anthony Joshua, klichkov. Dele Alli unfortunately we are not allowed to take photos of them.

I ve worked at Coppa box, wembley stadium, tottenham former stadium lots of football, boxing, baskets ball and music invents, featuring Taylor swift, beyonce and Jay Z, Rihana, Niki Minaj, Adele, again we are not allowed to go near them or take photos. we just stand there and observe, check tickets, watch the event and control crowds..

The same thing at O2 stadium, Nightclubs and bars.

I have never had problems picking up women, especially when i worked at nightclubs, Pubs or bars. Infact, some women after partying and drinking or drunk they start looking for sex and if they couldn't find any in the bar or nightclub, guess who they would try to take home or wants to go home with at 3, 4 or 5 am in the morning after partying and drunk, The security guys at the door. cheesy I had girlfriends then but they always dump me because of my nightclub work and women.

Some of them were women i met while working at the night clubs when we eventually becomes a couple they would start urging me to quit the job so as to stay home at night, watch TV and cuddle in bed but NO way! i was having way too much fun on my door work at night clubs.

Eventually my license/badge expired, i couldn't renew it because of some bad records, plus i ve got kids now, i don't have the energy anymore.

I don't know the kinda security job you do but, security job is a respectable job. i ve also worked at airports, crickets, rudgy and horse racing events. my last job was at a horse racing event, Meghan markle, Prince Harry, William his wife and the queen of England was there.

The pay wasn't bad either but if you are not enjoying the job then it's not the right job for you.

If you go about opening doors for every Jacob and john, carrying shopping bags, holding umbrellas or running unnercerssary errands for your employers expecting meagre cash tips or presents, Then you have turned yourself to a pleb. because that's how most security persons in Nigeria behaves.

Be proud of yourself and be happy with what you do that is the only way you can succeed and be content too, the moment your lost happiness in what you do is better you quit, no conditions is permanent, all this your write up here not all of them are true maybe that is how you feel but I don't think that's how people feels generally about securities men, I have some securities guys working for me some are even married, there wives visit them are place of work self.

What and what do you need to learn in pandas that you can analyse data in 2-4 weeks?

Import pandas as pd
Import matplotlib as plt
Import bokeh as bk

df = pd.read_csv("education.csv" )
df

Then you advance further by learning python data structures and loops if need be.
Know your list slicing etc, people don't just wanna stress themselves, I challenge anyone to give it 2-4 weeks and not come out above average

You won't show courtesy to some folks until you know their stories. The op was particular about guys, pls ladies go through similar pathways too.

I have done this same job before, but you don't allow your present circumstance to define who you are.

I received all kinds of insults, but I was determined that I won't wear that inglorious uniform for ever. I enrolled for a PT program with my first pay chq as a security man. Out of no time, I created time. You know how difficult it can be to leave duty post for school and not get sacked. But I have to do something to change my story.... I sort my colleagues, make friends even with arch enemies just to get my mind liberated.

Behold it works wonders! U have to face the shame, forget the insult and be determined to rewrite your story. I graduated from the PT with good grade, then proceeded for a full time program at UI. I went for an interview and met one of those who used to insult me came for same position. He was so surprised to have seen me. What could a security man be coming to this kinda organisation to do. He didn't realise that as they were busy insulting me, I was schooling, doing something underground they weren't aware of.

The job is demeaning, some will look down on you but also have good story of people who look up to me even as a security man. Build yourself, make yourself a man people will always want to come, but be as wise as serpent and be as cool as dove. As an officer, people come to me for all kinds of advice in the same organisation. Remember you were trained not to be friend with anyone but use your head. People ain't your enemies.

I am no longer a security man, that's in my past. But it's part of my story today.

I get your points clearly but it's either those who say they know MS Excel very well don't know it Or you haven't defined what is to be known in 2 - 4 Weeks.

No one can sufficiently know Excel to an advanced level in 4 Weeks. Perhaps most don't even know what it means to know Excel.
Python's great . it also has a plethora of Data Analytics applications. But it seems that people who study python tend to denigrate tools like Excel impliedly.
This is funny. Technically (For Data Analytics) there's Nothing that can be done with python that Cannot be Excel.
And I say technically because I assume we set such factors as speed and convenience aside and just focus on results.
