This my thread is just mainly for single men and guys outside there and I would like to share my experience with you guys on what I have undergone and experienced as a Security guard.

To be a security guard is not a job I can advise my enemy to opt for let alone my friend or relation. The job is a regardless one and very disgusting.

As a security guard, you are more or less a beggar in the street, should I say beggar has a little regard more than you.

When people see you, they see nothing in you. Most especially when you're trying to speak to them in English making them to know that you're educated...(laugh..) You just did it wrong, to them it means you are having mental problem.

The image impression of 98% of people on guys who do this job to hustle for their lives rather than involving in criminal practices is that they have no future; is that they cannot make it in their lives; e.t.c.

Since I've started this job when I finished my program in the polytechnic, any lady I made to know about the job I do turns me off later, some said it's a beggars' work.

And currently, I hardly have female friends not to talk of girlfriends or marriage.

Though, I didn't mean to start this job before if not condition, but now I'm planning to quit the job and find another.

Sometimes, I cried in my room, begging God to show me another way.

One of the workers in the place of work that I'm guiding once told me that his dog is better off than me. This is even the person that cannot even compose simple correct English, he said his dog is better than me.

The experience is nothing to write home about... The way pple look at u as soon as they see u on that uniform is something else... I can remember in 2016 when i was deported from Europe i have no other option after searching for job for many months with my HND result all to no avial... I tried to get help from friends and relatives no help was forthcoming... The only option was to join a security firm were i was paid 25k... The insult embarrassment and the lookdown was not here... I even comtemplated committing suicide but i thank God for today... At least am now better off now but am still exploring other avenues to get a better living and God willing i'll get there... Lols after obtaining HND electrical engineering in IMT, and BSC survey and geoinformatics, I started searching immediately after NYSC, guys it was not funny at all, as I receive pressure everywhere to find something doing expecially from my mother even to the extent of her calling me a lazy man, comparing me with my younger brother. I decided to do anything so far I leave house for her. That's when I joined security job. It was not funny atall, wearing the uniform seeing people that looks up to you, seeing your classmates, your friends but as of then I have no option. Just have to drop my certy inside box and face the reality of life. One day a corpers shouted on me calling me an illiterate lols, mind you I have served 5years before him. People underrated us, talking to us like slaves and so on. Thank God today am working with in one of the biggest company in Nigeria as an engineer. Am married, have cars and building. I thank God for everything.

There is money in security if you take it as your career path. There is nothing wrong in being a security guard. It is what you make out of the situation that distinguish you. I started working as a security guard in 2011 after losing my call center job. Yes, people regarded guards as low life, downtrodden, uneducated idiots, moronic etc but they did not know that some of us are far more educated, brilliant and intelligent than them. I don't need to prove a point to anybody while discharging my duties. One of the main reason they detest security guards is because we are there to stop them from doing what is illegal. I later enrolled at Unilag for Advanced Diploma in Security Operations and management. I also did UK HSE level 1-3, registered with ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security) the world security governing body for security professionals. I enrolled as a specialist member of International Risk Management, I did many online personal development courses ranging from Cyber Security, Forensic psychology, Forensic Investigation, Military Ethics and project management. I am an expert in security systems and preparing for my CPP this November. I live in a decent apartment, have a modest car and a beautiful family.

To be sincere you are not normal if you are a graduate and you accept 7000 monthly salary... You are a shame to your parents. Even your employee will doubt your degree. My guy if I'm your father I will disown you because I have wasted my money on you. Register as an agbero and make 5k daily. 5k x30 = 150k. Learn driving and earn 50-60k monthly. I'm paying my volunteers 40k monthly and they only go out 3times in a week.
I started making money in secondary school just by repairing calculators for students and teachers,
When I got to high institution, I repair and sell computers, write projects etc.
I have never gone for any job interview and I will never. I look down on my lecturers then because I only measure success by how much cash in a man's bank account.
