If You've Done This Job Before, Pls Tell Me Your Experience Too

This my thread is just mainly for single men and guys outside there and I would like to share my experience with you guys on what I have undergone and experienced as a Security guard.

To be a security guard is not a job I can advise my enemy to opt for let alone my friend or relation. The job is a regardless one and very disgusting.

As a security guard, you are more or less a beggar in the street, should I say beggar has a little regard more than you.

When people see you, they see nothing in you. Most especially when you're trying to speak to them in English making them to know that you're educated...(laugh..) You just did it wrong, to them it means you are having mental problem.

The image impression of 98% of people on guys who do this job to hustle for their lives rather than involving in criminal practices is that they have no future; is that they cannot make it in their lives; e.t.c.

Since I've started this job when I finished my program in the polytechnic, any lady I made to know about the job I do turns me off later, some said it's a beggars' work.

And currently, I hardly have female friends not to talk of girlfriends or marriage.

Though, I didn't mean to start this job before if not condition, but now I'm planning to quit the job and find another.

Sometimes, I cried in my room, begging God to show me another way.

One of the workers in the place of work that I'm guiding once told me that his dog is better off than me. This is even the person that cannot even compose simple correct English, he said his dog is better than me.

Your experience too is allowed... Thank you.

I don't think your situation is peculiar, do you know what each and everyone goes through before they make it in life?
......your mind is the master-key that will lock or unlock your greatness, be careful of what you think of yourself.

You just used "guiding" instead of "guarding", so maybe there's some element of truth in all this?

You are very correct. Most reasonable and virtuous women want to be part of the success stories of their men as long as they can see he has a plan to achieve this. You can't fool a good woman for long.

There is no excuse for crime. But you need to always learn to tell people the time cycle it takes to learn, practice and master and IT skill.

You can. be a security .man and still command respect. It depends on how you carry yourself. I worked as a security man when I was just 21, my own challenge was my small stature but I carried myself with confidence, I had a good relationship with my coworkers and I was getting extra money aside my salary, I was looking fresh. There was a day a customer saw me and said " u fine like this and u dey do security". I left the job when I gained admission
So Bros, slim fit ur uniform freshen up.Be confident , see your self as a millitary man when you are in uniform. approach any lady u like if they talk trash blast them.
I'm a graduate and if I see a security job that pays well I will do. It is even better than these teaching jobs that pay peanut
May Allah bless you, after my NYSC I started teaching in a secondary school the salary was small but manageable things was going fine but suddenly the owner of the school stop paying us our salary for about three months.
I left the teaching job and got my self a security job, they pay promptly and also we use to get some incentives from the company aswell, I got married with this security job last year by God grace I have son now.
Do you know what happened? A week after my wife put to bed I got a call from one of the state agencies I applied 20017 when I finished my NYSC. I was surprised I couldn't believe until I went to their office and confirmed it.
Pls @ Op respect your self stop begging for money dress neat comb your heir, pullish your shoe and concentrate wallahi people will respect.

The reason why people treat security guards with disdain in Nigeria is cos they know they're poorly paid.

If we truly implement minimum pay and make it and offence to underpay security guards and domestic staff such as cooks and maids Nigerians will be forced to give them more regards!

I don't agree with the bolded. No way. Most Nigerians have the attitude of looking down on people they are higher than. But hey, the dirt and maggots await all men.

To Ayomide11111, raise your head up and do your work with dignity. Common, man up. I started with 7,500 with 300 tax. My TH was 7,200. We all have experiences to tell. No shaking. The aim is to put food on the table and make everyone around us happy. I don't need cars or houses. Just to provide for all around me. And don't ever compete with anyone.

There is a light at the end of every tunnel, no matter how long and smelly the tunnel is. Keep moving forward.

Sigh!... I spent 5months 17days on my last job(security job) in Lagos before I was deployed to the North for NYSC. Beyond doubt those were the worse days of my life. I decided to pick it up when I had no other option after searching for a part time job after school and couldn’t get one. Sitting at home was now out of the option so I went for it. The pay was poor compared to the risk involved, you are always the suspect if anything goes wrong on your shift, the feeling of being a security guard gives you high level of inferiority complex amongs your peers, not just girls. I was so happy when I got deployed for nysc. I will advise you to have a target, save, leave your CV with some outsourcing firm since you will be at work most of the time to help you find jobs. And most importantly pray brother, you need it more than any other thing.

Common sense should tell anyone that nothing comes easy in life, are you seriously expecting us all to tell people that?

There are immense opportunities in IT but clearly you must be prepared to put in the time, the time some would rather waste on yahoo yahoo.

I'm not into photography or drop shipping so why would I advocate something I know nothing about? What stops YOU doing that instead of castigating others? Please rest abeg.

You have attitude problem. For someone to use such a word on you ,you must 've done something wrong . There is no smoke without fire. Start 're branding yourself . An educated person must learn to do things differently ...you may call it packaging . The only reason I hate the job is cos of the risk. You could be losing your life in the line of duty. Unfortunately the reward doesn't match the risk. I know of a guy that worked as a security man ..,today he has his own company . He dressed properly in a neatly starched security uniform ...infact people prefer to approach him cos he speaks fantastic English ...you can't even believe some client sometimes approached him for advice...one day one of the clients had a long discussion with him and decided to get him job at mobile ..,Today he is rich , has his own company and all is well with him. Stand out in your place of work and God will take you to greater level

You no ready for life if any little thing people say dy say dy ves you. In the bank Where I work , my colleagues who are security guards are very proud of their job. Some of them have built houses, some have lands. Even the tellers and manager there no get fine house like security. They do contribution then when they collect the money, they use it to do big things like buy lands, and build houses.

Dy there make pant dy wear u. Life na small small. U must start somewhere and recieve insults before u move on. If this doesn't happen to you, when u have money u will not know what people under you are passing through. So just be patient this is a sign u will someday have a security guard working under you so treat him right when that time comes. Stay strong.
