Due to provisions of the Public Procurement Act, government may not be able to procure computers directly from the manufacturers. Supply contracts have to go through local contractors and discretionary factors are included help local companies keep afloat and maintain staff. The major issue will be compliance with the specification as proposed in the contract. |

omonnakoda:Their are windows laptop that are also that expensive, especially if they are SSD. The cheap ones are HDD laptops, you can find cheap Mac too, they also run on HDD. If you're running programs that require a high performance laptop, you need SSD laptops. For example it might take you 12 hours to install Android studio on a low performance laptop, and less than 30 mins to do same on Apples's 2019 Mc Pro. |

omonnakoda:Your question seem like a trap. Customs need very fast and security sensitive computers. These characteristics translates to expensive. Lack of these are the reasons customs are loosing billions of naira weekly due to hacking and manipulations. It also one of the major reasons ports are conjested because of the slow nature of their current computers. Nb. I don't work with customs. |

Nuzo1:no trap Let us leave security out of it JUST FOR ONE MOMENT( we will return to that) and answer the question from the perspective of the functionality required I.e processor speed, operating system, graphics, memory including RAM etc. I do not imagine data would be stored on PC Memory for the entire service I also ask even if they went for a more expensive workstation instead of a PC what are the requirements |
