Awolowo was Premier between 1951-1959 during the colonial era.

He had resigned as Premier of Western Region three years before the 1963 referendum.

It's now over 30 years that Awolowo died, please move on and make your life better.

Cheers.

This is outside the scope of the discussion.

The mid west voted nearly 90% against staying with the oppressive Awolowo government. grin

Ibanga Udo Akpabio from Akwa Ibom state held two key senior positions.

Minister for education and minister for internal affairs!

Imoke from Ogoja in cross river is the senior minister of Labour, Finance.

The minority in the old western region only make 10% of the population, and they got 7/23 (around 30%) of the ministerial position. To me, that is fair enough.

Compared to the east, where the minority makes up more than 35% of the population but got 9/26 (34%) of the ministerial position. If we are to be sincere, the minority got a better deal in the southwest

Nepotism,Tribalism and devilish wickedness run in the veins of the Igbos.Imagine a people killing all the leaders of the other ethnic groups and sparing theirs all because of their plan to put Nigeria in their pockets .

You have still not answered these.I just used the abandoned properties as an example of the ills the minorities knew Igbos have visited on them.Land is a scarce commodity.

Yorubas gave its own minorities the greatest gifts of all which were education, free medical care etc not some mundane things.

Answer these tribalism of the Igbos against the minorities.

Stop acting like a chameleon.

The SS knows that your people are tribalism personified reason for the abandoned properties saga.

Igbo are really shadowy.. What is the population and landmass of edo and delta which was Midwest compared to yoruba. Now compare rivers, cross river, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom population and land mass against Igbos' and ask urself who was marginalizing who among the 2.

Can you defend the below statement ?

Yoruba had 4 states in the 60s While minorities had 2, yet got 7 high position out of 23

While in your region

You igbos had just 3 states and minorities had 4 and they only got 9 out of total 26.

This is stark naked tribalism and nepotism which Igbos are severally accused of.
Remember how Igbos killed all the leaders of the other ethnic groups even pregnant women and left the Igbo leaders unscathed.
This is pure and devilish wickedness by the Igbos.

You were asked a simple question but here you are beating about the bush like a typical Yoruba, posting the same nonsense over and over again like a broken record.

But you failed to admit that the so called positions were for errand boys. (Assistant minister) lol.

The one of igbos is of more value because all the minorities were given actual ministerial positions compared to the minorities in the western region. And to even think you mischievous lots included assistant ministers as part of the positions baffles me.

Minus the errand boy positions and tell me what remains.

The Igbo in their bid to throw others under the bus always open themselves to ridicule.

You can't accuse Yoruba of discrimination when all evidence points to the contrary and also point to the Igbos as the biggest culprit.

To begin with, those ethnic minorities in the west were not supposed to be grouped with the Yoruba in the first place. Even at that, the Yoruba still try to do justice to them based on all evidence available. And when they decide to vote out of the west, the Yoruba took it in good faith.

Let us now compare the action of the Yorubas to the ethnic minorities in the old eastern region, it was established those groups were heavily marginalized the hateful, arrogant and greedy Igbos.

So you are using population and land mass to defend your sheer display of marginalisation towards minorities?

"Ok we have the population and landmass to get all the juicy positions but not the errand boy positions. Yes those ones should be left to the minorities cuz their population is negligible compared to us omoluabis"

No wonder the North keeps getting away with what they doing because they also use the same argument to defend themselves.

The stark marginslisation and nepotism of Igbos against the minorities and even the larger Nigerians was cut throat when Igbos held sway.
Why would Igbos who did not have the resources, land and population of the minorities take 26 and give the golden hen only 9?

Sheer wickedness. No wonder the minorities are scared stiff.

Can you provide Awolowo cabinet list

that’s cuz ibos are known as tricky educate urself on ministers first before we talk. Why would the west hide any ministers slot when there is nothing to hide. 18 out of 23 were full senior ministers slots in the west out of those 18 4 were minorities. Over all 7 out of 23 ministers were minority. When population and resources is taken into account there is no marginalization in the west.

I have said it before that the separation was political.
The minorities in the western region were not up to 9% but they were given a sense of belonging .The Yorubas had the most of the resources, land etc but still carried them along.most people did not want to be separated from the western region but the political class.

The minorities in the eastern region were almost 45%,they had the most resources, land etc but the Igbos greatly marginalised them with their renowned nepotism and tribalism.
The minorities were given 9 out of 26 positions.
This is sheer wickedness from the Igbos.
The minorities in the east were very much eager to be cut off from the Igbo but the minorities of the western region were very sad but for their political leaders.

Ibadan was the capital and it is understandable that the bulk of development will be there and the bulk of the money used in developing Yorubaland and even Benin-Delta came from cocoa. How much is the tax being paid now talk less of then when stipends were taken as taxes and just a few usually paid the tax
Most of the Midwesterner enjoyed free medical care, free education etc.

Most of the citizens did not want to go but for the political leadership..

THIS IS FROM THE ARTICLE:

In the weeks preceding the formal launching of the united Action Group at Owo from April 28 30, 1951, Anthony Enahoro had organized a meeting of Benin and Warri leaders of thought in Sapele, ostensibly to discuss Midwestern solidarity. People like Gaius Obaseki, Arthur Prest, Festus Edah (Okotie-Eboh), Okorodudu, S. O. Ighodaro etc. were present. At the meeting, most participants expressed sentiments against the creation of a separate midwestern region. However, two dissenters, Chike Ekwuyasi and E. O. Imafidon who were present, rushed back to Benin to alert Omo-Osagie who then called a rally of his own and initiated counter-measures [Oronsaye, op. cit.; Uwaifo, op. cit
