Hello all... I just want to satisfy my curiosity. I opened a new gmail account few days ago and as part of the process to finalise the account opening, I was sent a code. But my surprise is that the code came through whatsapp chat (a supposed to be MTN ... 0803xxxx) I inputted the code and the account was created. I tried chatting the number by saying hi, my message was read but wasn't replied. I want to confirm if gmail sends verification code through such random number or someone was being smart. ( the display picture on the whatsapp through which the code was sent is an African young girl) Can anybody clarify. Though the email wasnt opened for anything serious, I just want to confirm to either educate others or guide against any fraudulent activity that may ensue. Thank you. |
