The move is certain to further shock the nation’s already shaky financial system. The governors of the 36 states of the federation have opposed the implementation of the Sovereign Wealth Fund, declaring it illegal two months after the bill was passed into law. The governors, who opposed the bill during passage, made this known in a communiqué issued after a meeting on Sunday in Abuja. They urged the federal government to suspend the implementation of the Act until since the new legislation breaches existing laws.
